Wrong; 1986 the deduction from income of med expenses got limited to whatever was over 7.5% of income. Thanks, Mr. Gephardt. That is the original sin.

Why should medical payments or medical insurance payments be deductible from taxable income for any reason? Car insurance payments, homeowners’ insurance payments, rental insurance, personal-property insurance ... none of those costs are deductible, even though, without insurance, the person would have an out-of-pocket cost in the event of a loss.

If we want to find an “original sin,” maybe it’s the Federal income tax itself, compounded by its use for social engineering and economic manipulation.
