An herbicide that contaminates the tap water consumed by millions of Americans has been found to produce gender-bending effects in male frogs, "chemically castrating" some and turning others into females, a study shows.
Frogs in the experiment were exposed to amounts of the weedkiller atrazine that are comparable to the levels allowed in drinking water by the Environmental Protection Agency, says lead researcher Tyrone Hayes of the University of California-Berkeley.
The study was released Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
In Hayes' earlier studies, atrazine caused male frogs to begin growing eggs in their testes. In this experiment, 10% of the males exposed to atrazine one of the most commonly used herbicide in the world actually changed sex; some were able to breed and lay eggs. Nearly all of the other males had low testosterone and sperm levels, which made them unable to reproduce, Hayes says.

Hooray for well water!
that explains Arlen Specter.
Yikes!
So when the Princess finally kisses me I won’t be up to requiting her affections?
“Mr Pres__ent, may I get you a glass of water?”
That explains metrosexuals.
How exactly does a chemical cause a male to produce eggs? I smell a crock.
Apparently, this water has made its way to San Francisco, NYC, Los Angeles and, of course, Washington, D.C.
From the article, “Although scientists still have many questions about atrazine, Sass says, the chemical should be phased out as a precaution.”
Sass, actually Jennifer Sass, is an ass. What this pseudo-scientist is attempting to do is apply what the enviro-commies call “the precautionary principle”.
What is that? It says that whenever there is any activity or thing an enviro thinks might be a risk, that as a precaution, that activity or thing must be outlawed.
Think of it as an insurance policy that costs all of America’s potential productivity. Worse yet, it is what underwriters call a “zero risk policy” in that since the precautionary principle is essentially unprovable, there can be no liability.
After all, “we did it for the chilrun”.
Great, and just when I’m feeling froggy.
Atrazine’s safety?
smokingfrog, do you recall what Clemenceau once said about war?
He said war was too important to be left to the generals. When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right. But today, war is too important to be left to politicians. They have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought. I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.
So drink pure, fresh spring water. We need you to scream when the commie water you’re sitting in starts to boil, and you won’t be able to do that without your gonads.
I believe the chemicals are part of a group labeled “oestrogens”. They mimic estrogen in the body.
PING
But that can’t create eggs. You’re born with the eggs you have. I mean women of course. You can shoot a tranny full of estrogen and there won’t be egg production because the organs aren’t there from the start which contain the eggs.
Maybe it’s different for frogs?
Ergo, there should be more frogs, since there would be more eggs..............
