President Barack Obama strongly signaled that Democrats will move forward on a health care overhaul with or without Republicans, preparing his party for a fight whose political outcome will rest with voters in November.
Delivering his closing argument at a 7-1/2-hour televised policy marathon Thursday, Obama told Republicans he welcomes their ideas even ones Democrats don't like but they must fit into his framework for a broad health care remake that would cover tens of millions of uninsured Americans.
That's the deal.
It's a gamble for Obama and his party, and it's far from certain that Democratic congressional leaders can rally their members to muscle a bill through on their own.

Ain't got the votes. Ask Nancy.
My arse!
As one welcomes dog poo on their sneaker, as Levin puts it.
Next step: Wreckconciliation.

They think they have enough votes.
I caught MSNBC last night to see what the enemy is saying. Chuck “I love Obama” Todd was providing the company line: “The bill passed, reconcilliation will be used for what it was meant to be used. To reconcile the Senate and House bills.”
I’m furious over this. I can’t recall a time where the government was less responsive to the people.
Senate does. House doesnt or they would do it TODAY!
Most of my Democrat friends before yesterday thought that this was a dumb idea. The ones I have spoken to since yesterday had hoped the President would have done a better job. They seem to think the MSM that was covering the event was bias some how.
Uh...no Todd. Hell of a difference between merging two bills into an agreed bill that both houses can then pass (and be filibustered by the opposition via 40 votes) and send to the POTUS desk vs. the budget reconciliation mechanism to pass with a bare majority (and disallowing amendments) established budget items that are at a negotiation impasse.
I call Chuck Todd out on his purposeful deception but what does one otherwise expect from a pro-Dem MSM talking head?
I think the reason the Dems are so desperate to pass government provided “free” healthcare is that once it passes, if it passes, people will be reluctant to give it up, providing a huge base of Dem supporters. Recently, a news item said that even though Canadians know their health care system is bad, most will not give it up, presumably because it’s free, and they now consider it a right that the governement must provide to them.
it is real quiet....I mean, REAL quiet, out there this morning on all of the lefty cheerleading blogs. I have this funny feeling that after yesterday’s performance they know this is toast.
“I call Chuck Todd out on his purposeful deception but what does one otherwise expect from a pro-Dem MSM talking head?”
I watch Morning Joe because it’s the only thing on MSNBC I can stand, and it’s good to know what the enemy is saying. I do consider them the enemy.
Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow... I don’t like them, but they are commentators. Their bias is established. Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell really, really disgust me. Both pretend to be journalists, and both couldn’t be more in love with Obama.
SET THEIR LOCAL AND DC LINES ON FIRE! Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009
Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Thats the thing. Pelosi and Reid were reclusive for WEEKS before yesterday. I thought they would be crowing We have the votes we have the votes this morning. But back into hiding. Strange
And, this is a surprise to whom???
