I had heard that this had happened, but before yesterday, my location in Cypress, Texas hadn't implemented it.
Yesterday, I walked in and got onto an elliptical and saw CNN in place of Fox News and next to it a show on Bravo where I was treated to two men making out!! I was glad the two 15 year old girls down the row were able to witness it.
I asked the sales guys and was told it was "corporate".
I may be at another gym soon. Does anyone here have any more info on why they are doing this?
You can get fox at 24 hour in spring..
You MAY be at another gym??? The CNN thing is one thing (take an iPod with your favorite tunes instead), but insisting on a channel that regularly shows homosexual propaganda - even with youth present.
Seriously, what is stopping you? I like my gym (local outfit - no chain). DirecTV on several screens - all with independent control - and they let the clients pick the channels.
A couple of years back my company’s cafeteria changed from FoxNews to CNN. I suspect it had something to do with “squeaky wheels”.
Lotsa liberals have a hissy fit if FoxNews is on, but conservatives are used being inundated with liberal media. Even though Americans strongly prefer FoxNews, the self-righteous liberal squeaky wheels tend to get their way.

Thats nothing, YMCA up in the upper class suburbs here had folks complaining that CHRISTMAS MUSIC was being played, and not one Cross can be found anywhere on the property.
Did the leadership stand up and explain what the C in YMCA stands for? Nope, they just capitulate.. its sickening.

The owners are VERY liberal, and when I worked there, we couldn’t even watch Fox News when the restaurant was closed!

Yes, 24 Hour shows both. Naturally, I watch the Fox News broadcast.
I had to go to court for a traffic ticket a while back and in the courtroom were several large LCD TV’s with FOX News on each!

Yep same deal at LA Fitness in Indianapolis. The TVs are set to CNN, MSNBC, The E, and ESPN. I was told that only the TV set on ESPN could be changed. All the others were set in stone. I mean can you imagine...CNN is bad enough. Now force feeding us MSNBC and E! I can hardly get through my warm up on the elliptical without vomiting my energy bar. Im guessing someone at MSNBC must have the goods on someone at LA Fitness. Why else would you put on the LOWEST rating cable news channel on 1 of 4 TVs. I too am researching other gym alternatives. Why piss off 60% of your members.
Fox has reappeared next to CNN as of last weekend. I guess they got their asses handed to them by more than just me.
I can’t stomach Bravo. I have never seen such vulgar, inappropriate content. Why not just run porn? Bravo is practically there.

The manager at LA Fitness told me that corporate office is being paid 250,000 per store to play CNN and not play FOX or ESPN. This action is to play commercials that are primarily on CNN and not FOX. Now I emailed corporate (the hiring dept.) and pray that it will go through. We have a lot of people who like FOX (or at least dislike what the others promote) that I think they will walk and go to a local (and less exclusive) gym. I personally would like to have a variety...just to see what the other guys are saying is happening.
