For the past 22 years, I have dedicated my life to serving my community as a New York City pastor and spiritual leader. I have counseled the suffering, married couples, helped the grieving, fed the hungry and have acted as a liaison between my community and the government. This week, I took what I believe to be the next logical step in that commitment by announcing my candidacy to become the next member to the United States House of Representatives for the 15th Congressional District.
The system in Washington, DC, is broken at a time of enormous challenges and we need real-life solutions. Solutions that are based on the communitys input and welfare, not a federal government takeover. As I speak with the people of Northern Manhattan, it is clear that they have become apathetic about democracy. When people dont trust democracy, they dont vote placing political leadership in the hands of those who use political power for their personal gain.

And what are "microfinance initiatives"?
Go Rev. Faulkner!
Microfinance is private companies making very small loans to poor people, to assist them in setting up small businesses as a way out of poverty. They often offer the money along with classes in how to manage the loans responsibly. It’s been successful in poor countries.
Thanks. I think it came up once before here on FreeRepublic and I forgot what it meant. I can’t remember the context but I think it was Africans trying to develop some kind of business, like basket weaving or something.
He sounds great! I sure hope he can do it, this really made my day!
Standing up to the powers that be. (Hopefully)
Godspeed.
IMHO
Video here from Fox - he is running as a Republican. Name is spelled Michel (not Michelle and not Michael). Very articulate.
Microfinance is one of the great things is economics. And it’s a brilliant strategy for him to adopt. You can Google examples of it, but simply stated, it’s along these lines:
Let’s pretend you live in a poor neighborhood, but you have a talent, a real gift for sewing. You can sew anything, alter anything, make old things look brand new again. All you need is a newer, better working sewing machine and you can hang out a shingle. Microfinancing is what will deliver that sewing machine to you. Presto, you have just created an entrepreneur...and probably a conservative, to boot.
One of the more famous microfinance outfits: http://www.kiva.org/about/microfinance/
He’s the next one I scrape up money to donate to:

One thing is certain : The only way to get rid of Charlie Rangel is to beat him at the polls.
It is certain that no matter how much Charlie steals from the citizens through cheating on his taxes or other corrupt means he will not be held responsible.
The ethics committee of the House is a joke, worse than a joke. They only whitewash the ethics violations committed there. They are a sham, a disgrace and anyone on the committee should be ashamed to even have their name mentioned as a member.
Am I the only one who is sick of hearing how the “system is broken”? Bovine Scatology! It’s not the system that is the problem, it’s the people. We don’t need to throw out the system.
Lets hope, pray, and work hard to elect enough conservatives in November to change that situation.
This preacher is trying to do the same thing to Rangel that Rangel did to Adam Clayton Powell 40 years ago and it may work. Charlie, of course, ended up out-Powelling Powell.
There is a link at the Fox and Friend site that makes it easy to donate.
I hope he gets in and gets himself innoculated against Potomac fever real quick. The track record of NYC congresscritters is not good.
Rangel hasn’t had an opponent in years. Can you imagine how out of shape his campaigning skills are? To say nothing of his shriveled up mug and his beached whale figure. And here comes this young whippersnapper, all full of piss and vinegar, asking for the vote?
Man, it’s a beautiful thing.
There is a LARGE class of minority conservatives running this year, and they will be tapping into the “Enough is enough” meme. They won’t all win, but a bunch of them will, for sure.
And I hope they form their own caucus, as opposed to the CBC. Maybe they’ll call it the Liberty Caucus, or something like that.
:)
It’s funny that all those black conservatives have surfaced immediately after Obama got 95% of the black vote. Darkest before dawn, I suppose.
“In Massachusetts, Scott Brown proved that dynasties can be toppled. The people of the 15th Congressional District in New York deserve no less.
The people of Massachusetts had RomneyCare recently foisted upon them by proud, phony weasels, and were voting against more RomneyCare, now ObamaCare, by voting for Brown. The people of the 15th Congressional District in New York aren’t similarly motivated, and probably never will be.
Thanks for posting this.
I have been more focused on NY20 where my country home is and elections tends to be more interesting; in the City I am on the Upper East Side in NY14 but right across the street from NY15. Faulkner seems like a legitimate candidate who deserves some legitimate support... I’ll see what I can do. His campaign office is 97th and Broadway, right across Central Park from my place.
You know what’s funny about that?
I read a post on Strata-Sphere about this very thing, sorta. In advance of the VA gov race. It showed that the Dem was losing a LOT of AA voters. And his hypothesis attributed it to Obama’s election.
Let me see if I can dig it up.
