Health Care Summit: Obama Calls for 'Spirit of Good Faith' Without 'Political Theater'
February 20, 2010 6:01 AM
Miller ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:
A week before his health care summit, President Obama called on Democrats and Republicans to come to the table in a spirit of good faith, when they sit down at the Blair House on Thursday for the presidents much-anticipated meeting.
I dont want to see this meeting turn into political theater, with each side simply reciting talking points and trying to score political points, Obama said in his weekly address. Instead, I ask members of both parties to seek common ground in an effort to solve a problem thats been with us for generations.
The president said he feels he has sought out and supported Republican ideas of reform from the very beginning.
Some Republicans want to allow Americans to purchase insurance from a company in another state to give people more choices and bring down costs," President Obama said. "Some Republicans have also suggested giving small businesses the power to pool together and offer health care at lower prices, just as big companies and labor unions do. I think both of these are good ideas -- so long as we pursue them in a way that protects benefits, protects patients, and protects the American people.

Why doesn’t he PROTECT the Amerian people from BIG government? It ISN”T that we don’t understand, we DO understand, and don’t want our health needs met by agencies run on the mindset of the Washington DC Beltway Culture.
The same guy who has his minions running around threatening to use reconcilliation is talking about good faith.
“..without political theater.”
Thank you, Mr. Greek Columns.
“I dont want to see this meeting turn into political theater, with each side simply reciting talking points and trying to score political points, Obama said”
This man does NOT know the truth, hence certainly cannot speak it...
Hey, Obama, does this mean you’re going to let us read the bill, and you’re not going to lock us out of the negotiation room?
Slimiest, greasiest politician EVAH !
No amount of scrubbing my skin in the shower can wash off the slime I feel when listening to this POS for more than 30 seconds.
He MUST be Impeached and removed ASAP.
Oh for Pete’s sake!!! The whole “summit” idea is political theatre!
Jack Squat has already ruined and sense of “good faith” with his continued behind the door workings on ObamaCare....or has anyone forgotten that the Dems are working to get this garbage through on reconciliation and to boot, Jack Squat has his own version written, as well.
This meeting is a GIMMICK, pure and simple, and ANY Repub that goes to this alleged “good faith” healthcare meeting with Jack Squat should be targeted for removal in November, period.
If the prez is telling the truth, then come to the meeting without the backdoor bill you have in hand and start from scratch. It will never happen.

35 years ago, there was a famous headline, FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD
http://www.americanheritage.com/articles/web/20051126-new-york-city-gerald-ford-labor-unions-municipal-assistance-corporation-emergency-financial-control-board.shtml.
In light of the intention of the White House to “Rahm” through health reform (Drudge’s words), the Daily News needs to run another headline. OBAMA TO PUBLIC: DROP DEAD. This guy’s arrogance literally knows no bounds.
Okay, for starters, let's produce the college transcripts first.

FUBO.

Good question. But then again, you can’t b%%%% slap people around without an intrusive government.
He has said this kind of crap before then immediately started attacking the Repubs. This nan is a low life liar and can not be trusted.
Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)
New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.

Obama says slight fix will extend Social Security

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware
The Health Care Summit is itself a political theater and only a political theater.
