Sorry, but you added a qualification not included in your post #11.

I stated that Ronald Reagan had gay friends, among them, conservative gay Republican, Rock Hudson.

Did RR “embrace” their lifestyle? No, but he included them in his circle of friends.

Dick Cheney's daughter is gay and he supports her right to be gay. I don't know if that qualifies as "embracing her lifestyle" or not. What do you think?
Cheney has long departed from conservative orthodoxy on the issue of gay marriage, saying during the 2000 presidential campaign that the matter should be left to the states. He also prompted an uproar during the 2004 race when he appeared to distance himself from a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, which was strongly supported by his boss, George W. Bush.

It seems it should be acceptable to have gay, fiscal and foreign policy conservatives among us as long as their personal lives and proclivities do not become center stage. If they want to join us in championing limited government, lower taxes, the rule of law, individual liberty, free enterprise, energy independence and a strong national defense then we are better off to include them than not. I understand many of them are pro-life as well.

That doesn't mean we change our position on family values and traditional marriage. Our platform remains unchanged on that and they have to accept that. Both groups just agree to disagree on that issue. I see problms arising with only the most militant groups who refuse to agree to disagree (on both sides).
