World may not be warming, say scientists

“The popular data sets show a lot of warming but the apparent temperature rise was actually caused by local factors affecting the weather stations, such as land development.”

The IPCC faces similar criticisms from Ross McKitrick, professor of economics at the University of Guelph, Canada, who was invited by the panel to review its last report.

The experience turned him into a strong critic and he has since published a research paper questioning its methods.

Terry Mills, professor of applied statistics and econometrics at Loughborough University, looked at the same data as the IPCC. He found that the warming trend it reported over the past 30 years or so was just as likely to be due to random fluctuations as to the impacts of greenhouse gases.

That's an astonishing quote! If that were true, Holland, Bangladesh, and the southeast coastal areas of the U.S. would all be covered with ocean. The things I just looked up talked about rises in the 1-3mm a year range. I wonder if Trenberth said 5mm since 1972 and the idiot reporter doesn't know what a mm is? Or maybe the Times just decided to make up a scary number for the quote. I just can't believe Trenberth would be so irresponsible to say something that patently false.

Oh, it’s much bigger than grants, and self enrichment - it’s about Global Socialism. Are the radical climate ‘scientists’ really mercenaries for another agenda?

Paul Martin recently appeared BBC World News covering the economies of Canada and the U.K. Throughout the interview, digressing from the main topic, Martin interjected information about his humanitarian efforts in South Africa - off topic, but nonetheless an honorable cause. He seemed to use the diversion as way to avoid criticizing current policies. Regardless, his characterization about solutions for the poorer countries was telling as it involved “Climate Change”.

According to Martin, addressing “Climate Change” is an imperative to the stability and growth of economically challenged nations. The obscure relationship went unchallenged during the interview. But perhaps it’s not that obscure to those that consider Climate an attribute of the imperative “Climate Change”, and not so much the object of the former view “Global Warming”.

Climate Change is effectively Hype Money.

Yes, it does sound quite strange. For one thing, the maps will change, wherever you have a coastal flatland. Holland, protected by dambs, might take an inch or two, but surely not Bangladesh, or Louisiana, or St. Petersburg.

You are right, but that is marginal. The bandwidth is available these days, but getting every post wrapping at over 1000 px width because of a missing tag is just plain annoying.
