WASHINGTON -- President Obama's overall approval rating has sunk to a new low -- and independent voters who propelled him to the White House have gotten downright sick of the job he's doing, according to a devastating poll released yesterday.
Obama's job-approval rating has tanked to a dismal 29 percent among independents, the Marist College survey found. His disapproval rating is nearly twice as high -- 57 percent.
Obama's overall approval among all registered voters hit a new low of 44 percent, the lowest of any poll that uses people to survey voters.
The near-total loss of independents could prove catastrophic for Democrats if the trend holds through Election Day this year.

It’s just appalling that any independent couldn’t see what Øbamunist was all about from the beginning - how so many could be duped into voting for a confirmed radical socialist. These people need to have their voter registration pulled.
but, but, but, I just saw Michelle Obamam on the news saying her husband has done a fabulous job his first year?!?! Why would anyone abandone O?
How anyone ignored all this is beyond the pale.
Remember the percentage of minorities in this country —
the so called “Rainbow Coalition”. They will give him a
positive rating regardless. Their approval rating is
based on skin color not job performance nor lack of job performance.
In the past we had politicians who understood how politics worked....now we have a ideologue who believes that government can be modeled after a Harvard Law School Lecture Series. “If they don’t get it, I will talk to them again”. His handlers are inexperienced and believe that his ‘magic’ charisma will keep the folks on his side. Real Americans are RUNNING away from this shallow individual....who continues to act like he is on the campaign trail and blames everyone else for the failures. His entire life is one of living in a socialist cocoon where everyone talked about a perfect society, then someone else did the work and he took the credit.
The health reform summit will turn this all around when we all see how smart Obama is. :)

I’m a registered democrat, but now consider myself an Independent.I have said on this site before that I made one of the biggest voting mistakes of my life by voting for Obama. Yes, long held, brought up in a very liberal household white guilt played into my vote, as did my aversion to McCain.
BUT — understand that now many people like me have their eyes wide open & are horrified at what their vote has wrought. We could spend all day debating how we could not have known the full extent of what Obama is doing, but the truth is MANY of us (myself, my brother, friends I have talked to- sadly- not my mother) are appalled & won’t ever make this mistake again. You can say, “Too little, too late”, but the fact is he is in office. That we can’t change. I do believe that there are alot of people out there like me, like my brother, like people I have talked to— we won’t be fooled again. When the next presidential election comes up I do believe that many people like me will have long ago abandoned him.
I also believe that you will see a surprising number of people like me who never in their lives thought they would go on a site such as Freerepublic, let alone post & find they are in agreement w/ many of the thoughts posted here. It’s mind blowing really. We are coming over to your side. It is scary, some people here are suspicious of people like me, but it is what it is. Sometimes it takes a monumental mistake such as voting for someone & wondering how you let yourself do that to wake you up.
Have patience w/ us, we are looking at what you have to offer & it IS looking good.

You’ve got to remember that unless they happened to watch something other than Fox or some other reasonably balanced channel they probably didn’t ever hear about some of the things we knew.
The MSM failed utterly to tell the truth. And they KNEW what the truth was.
