Interesting article and analysis. I have begun to wonder, in light of all the negative “air” around the Islamic State and it’s radical Arab ties, if the current regime does fold if the people will want to distance themselves from the last two and go back to a Persian identification.

This in light of the outing of the long kept secret the name of the country was changed at the request of Hitler’s people in which Iran is actually translated as Aryan. Iran was an ally of Nazi Germany during WWII.

Iran was never allied with Nazi Germany.

The allies were worried that the Shah might have Nazi sympathies. When the Brits demanded he expel German nationals (there were large numbers, and Germany was a major trading partner) because they feared the presence of spies who might sabotage oil fields, the Shah refused. The Americans wanted to transship war supplies to Russia across Iran. And so the Brits and Russia jointly invaded Iran in '42 (IIRC) and the Shah abdicated in favor of his son (the Shah who Jimmah Catah would later betray) and then Iran joined the allies. But before that they were neutral.
