PALIN HITTING OBAMA ON SINKING US-JAPAN RELATIONS BIG HIT IN JAPAN MEDIA (My Translation from Tokyo)
Jiji Wire Services Press (in Japanese) ^ | 7 February 2010 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 02/07/2010 3:30:26 AM PST by AmericanInTokyo

Sarah Palin's knock 'em out of the ballpark Nashville Address last night is already causing major tidal waves on thie other side of the Pacific Ocean.

In her Tea Party address, Gov. Palin took the Obama Administration to serious task over plummeting US-Japan relations. She specifically mentioned that Japan is the KEY AMERICAN ALLY IN THE PACIFIC and clearly crossed swords with Barack Obama over his treatment of this critical bilateral tie.

Anyone who knows the Japanese media will know that when Japan is specifically talked about by name and particularly by a major US leader, ears perk up and the presses run. Below is my rough translation of went out throughout Japan to all media outlets via the Japanese version of AP Wire, "Jiji Press". Media is already starting to pick it up. YAHOO!Japan is playing it as a top news story, tagged "New!", same headline and Jiji disptach. CNN Japan running story, too, but they cannot get their facts straight. They refer to the Tea Party as a "Conservative GOP Organization"(sic). At any rate, I suspect the story will play in hard copy major national circulation dailies tomorrow our time (Monday) her in Tokyo.

PALIN CRITICIZES OBAMA FOREIGN POLICY, SAYS US-JAPANESE RELATIONS "ARE AT THEIR WORST CONDITION"

日米関係「最悪の状態」=オバマ外交を批判-ペイリン氏

JIJI PRESS, Washington, D.C. reporter

"Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska who was the 2008 nominee by the Republican Party for Vice President, delivered a speech yesterday in Nashville at the national convention of the conservative alliance "Tea Party". "

She criticized Obama on his foreign policy. And regarding Japan-US relations she said, "(they) are our most critical ally in Asia and yet now US-Japan Relations are suffering an unprecedented low." She also stated regarding the US President's foreign policy that "Obama has only been president for one year, and already he has an outstretched hand to our enemies like Iran and North Korea". It is an item of interest as to whether or not she will be a candidate for President in the next election, but she stated "the Tea Party movement should not be centered around one sole individual, but should be a grassroots, expanding movement".

Morning....Looks like Sarah is seeing whats’s going on in the world from her front porch, unlike our present with his head in the sand.

You're welcome.

Other countries must be covering this, too, today.

She had quite a foreign policy component to her talk last night.

This to me was a very pivotal speech, coming after nearly a year of adoration of Obama in Japan with little reporting of anything critical of him of substance--although even that is changing somewhat. Although the Tea Parties and Townhall meetings themselves were reported in the Japanese media to some extent, and some of the high-brow elite Japanese outlets, usually conservative subscription magazines, has already taken BHO appart due to his perceived weakness in international affairs, this was a much more visible speech in Japan and if they play it hard, it is going to both raise her profile CONSIDERABLY, and also sucker-punch The Dear Leader in the solarplexus politically-speaking in my estimate. I do know that many Japanese in Japan in the know are truly shocked and disappointed about Obama after nearly a year of this nonsense.

Many average Japanese will most likely open their Japanese newspapers tomorrow, probably with a photo of her giving the address, perhaps saying to themselves, "whoaaaaa, what's thiiiiissss??"

I sense the hand of former Ambassador John Bolton in that speech. Which, if true, is a GOOD thing.

But, but, but... Bob Shrum said Governor Palin was mean and hate-filled!

Whatever she decides to do politically, Governor Palin has my admiration.

Whoever she has advising her (assuming she has PR advisers) deserves a raise!

The NY Times reported yesterday that Randy Scheunemann has contributed to her foreign affairs speeches and also contributes to a daily briefing put together by Kim Daniels, who covers domestic policy for her.

Thanks for the view from Japan, AIT—we can always count on you.

Bolton verges on a national treasure. I don’t think I have ever heard anyone more competent on international issues.

I was wondering while watching her speech will BO/BS feel compelled to give some sort of rebuttal TOTUS speech or let it slide? If the former then he is setting the precedent of either responding to a private citizen’s personal opinion or acknowledging she is and will continue be a threat to his reelection in 2012. In either scenario BO/BS would be giving her more credibility and attention by responding directly to her.

He will send out his vampires to attack on his behalf. He cannot sit still and silent through it on the one hand, but he cannot take her on directly as that opens a whole new dynamic I am sure Axelrod and Pflouie (spelling?) are advising him against. So they will send out messengers to do hatchet jobs on her, maybe an IRS audit or two, that kinda Washington Betway contemptous, retaliatory crap.
