This is a direct attack by government on a business in order to benefit the government controlled business.

Isn’t it a conflict of interest when the government who owns two car companies bad mouths a competitor? is there an agenda here?

Unprecedented.

Maybe they should look into the stuck accelerator of 'government spending'. On a related note, my new favorite word is 'unpresidented'...

Bingo,

LaHood is trying to further destroy Toyota’s reputation at the behest of Obama in order to improve the prospects of GM and Chrysler. This is exactly what those opposed to the auto bailout feared would happen. When gov’t interferes in private markets, the results are always bad. Just look at how they used Fannie and Freddie to put people into homes they could not afford and thus collapsed the housing market. I am thinking the Japanese will soon be calling Barry and telling him they will begin dumping their US Treasuries onto the market if he doesn’t back off.

“Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood advises owners of recalled Toyotas to stop driving them and seek repair.”

Yeah...REAL “level playing field” the Rats are always whining about...the bottomless well of money of the Gubmint (OUR money) vs private enterprises...I can hardly wait until they become MY competitor...bastards.

This would be advice from a member of a government that owns an automaker. A government that is strongly tied to unions. Unions that Toyota avoids.

I have a Toyota, it’s not in the recall list, but if it were, I’d still drive it.

Screw you government thugs.

When will the other shoe drop - will Ford vehicles start to have these same issues?

Car rental agencies had already stopped renting the “affected” Toyotas before this announcement. This announcement just makes it official for them.

The article makes the situation sound extremely serious and that a series of bad moves by Toyota is the problem. However when you look at the track record of 0’s admin, I’m gonna have to call Bravo Sierra on this as I do NOT trust 0 or Ray LaHoodlum. They haven’t told the truth about anything yet, why start now?

If an Indiana company makes the pedals that caused the recall, shouldn’t they bear the burden of all the cost of the recall?

Shouldn’t it be their reputation that is sullied, rather than the auto manufacturer that trusted them?

My thoughts EXACTLY. While Toyota has handled this very poorly, every time there is a new report, I wonder how much of this is an effort to knock a competitor out of the way for Government Motors. You just can't put it past this crowd.

BTW, we own 4 Toyotas and somehow none of ours is under recall. I have instructed both of our kids what actions to take if they do have an accelerator malfunction.

I wonder how many of the gas pedals actually stuck or is it our government doing this on purpose?
