Rangel: Lawmakers Writing Compromise Health Bill
By ALAN FRAM
WASHINGTON Leading lawmakers hoping to revive President Barack Obama's stalled health care overhaul have started writing a compromise bill, but it's unclear when the legislation will be ready for votes, a top House Democrat said Tuesday. The measure would change the massive Senate-approved health bill to what bargainers from the White House, Senate and House agreed to last month, Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., said in a brief interview.
Rangel's remarks, if borne out, could be the first concrete sign that Democrats will try enacting major health legislation in the wake of the Republican upset in a Massachusetts special election that cost them their crucial 60th Senate seat. Stunned by that setback, the White House and top Democrats have been conceding that they no longer know if they have the votes to pass health legislation, or what such a bill would look like.
In January, White House and congressional negotiators agreed to ease a Senate-approved tax on high-cost health insurance plans opposed by unions and many House Democrats. They also planned to remove a Senate provision having the federal government fully pay for an expansion of Medicaid coverage solely for Nebraska, one of whose senators, Democrat Ben Nelson, was the crucial 60th vote for the Senate bill at the time.
Rangel said leaders have to decide whether the health package would begin moving before or after Congress tackles legislation aimed at creating jobs.

Sitting on the toilet writing another bill are we.
Here I sit on my cold pot...
... trying to do what Obie could not.
The content is irrelevant. Any federal version is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care. The people are not bound to compound to comply with any unconstitutional act by Congress. This is the point people need to drive home with their Congress critters!
I have no doubt at all they will write a bill that will comprimise out health.
They really do want to go down in flames don’t they!
Medical Marxism, Version II ???
Whomever is keeping the list,,,,please put Rangle in the top 20. Thanks in advance.
When is the report of Rangel going to be released Nancy????
Same old crap....till NOVEMBER!
Give it up ‘RATS! Your “reform” is a bigger hoax and scam than Algore’s “global warming”. Americans are on to your commie games!
If he was a Republican, he would have been run-out-of office months ago. So my reaction is to ask: why is he still there?
The only thing they can do is come up with some watered down
election year version as a tactic to put the blame on the Republicans as the party of NO. A senate filibuster is what they want at this point so they don’t take the blame from the far left for being too stupid to coordinate a house/senate bill that the dems could have voted in without any gop votes. If they would have kept it simple to build an
initial framework, they could have added on to it later.
They should be working on how to cut taxes, cut government and create real jobs. But they won’t and we’ll see that unemployment and the economy are the real issues for November.
Same thing with requiring that 3rd tail light on autos, seatbelts on drivers and passengers, CAFE standards, everything the EPA, BATFE, OSHA, DEA, NHTSA, etc. does, but it somehow happens anyway

And it being unconstitutional will stop them how? They have no respect for our founding documents. They are Commurats.
There is no way these Marxists will pass this thing in an election year but they aren’t just any Marxists.
I really hope they try because they Marxist/Democrats would be irrelevant for years to come.
