Dude. We never forget.

Yeah, nothing like being warned that you're doing something monumentally stupid and then having the warning proved to be 100% correct. It really makes you hate the person who warned you.

“The Romans are going to kick your asses from here to the Euphrates. They will make Nebuchadnezzar look like your best friend. Cut the best deal you can and at least keep your families alive.”

“Yeah right, Josephus.”

Insert sound of Roman butt-kicking here.

Well, gosh. How many people do you think travel to the Vatican to be Baptized, confirmed, and given their First Holy Communion?
*********************************
Vatican City - An Italian journalist who is under police protection in the wake of threats from Muslim extremists is set to be baptized late Saturday by Pope Benedict XVI, according to news reports citing the Vatican’s spokesman. The Egyptian-born Magdi Allam, a deputy editor for Italy’s most respected newspaper Corriere della Sera, will join five other converts who will receive sacraments from the pope, Vatican spokesman Fr Federico Lombardi was quoted as saying by the ANSA news agency.

Benedict was scheduled to preside at an Easter Vigil ceremony in St Peter’s Basilica where he would administer the sacraments to the converts who include nationals from Cameroon, China, the United States and Peru, the Vatican said.

The pope traditionally administers sacraments, including baptism, confirmation and First Communion to converts during the solemn Easter Vigil.

Birthday party?
Some Jews are not Bar/Bat Mitzvahed until later in life. Thirteen is traditional for boys, 12 for girls. It is the rite of passage into adulthood when you become responsible for your own sins.

I have NEVER heard of ANYONE intentionally planning a birthday party for their children to take place outside of the country.

I live in New York City, amid 18 million souls in the greater NY area. I don't know a single NASCAR fan. Does that mean I deny their existence or validity? Or that I believe them to be a group of carbon dumping idiots? Of course not.

Open your mind and your heart.

Again, every one of the Israeli Bar Mitzvah celebrants I knew is a g-d fearing, loyal American who chose to honor their faith by traveling to the Holy Land for an important *family* celebration.

My annual Seder includes the phrase "Next Year in Jerusalem". Does that make me a traitor?

This sort of thing is so far beyond the realm of experience for traditional WASP Americans that - gosh, we honestly don't have polite terms in which we could try to describe it. Frankly, words like "treason" are what come to mind for us.

You need to get a life. Yes, Rahm is a traitor, but not for wanting to have his son become a Bar Mitzvah in Jerusalem.

You are an idiot. A Bar Mitzvah is not a birthday party. It is the ceremony where an adolescent chooses to accept responsibity for the 613 laws in the Torah. It is similar to Confirmation for Catholics. To have it at the last reminents of the Temple is something special. I found it quite moving personally. I hat Rahm, but it is wrong to punish the son.

Israel is a tourist detination for Rahm; as the article points out, he hates Israel and has done his best to harm the country.

So what dual loyalty are you talking about?

” you will notice he doesn’t wear a ring. I have no idea if that is Jewish custom or not.”

At the marriage ceremony proper, the man does not get a ring, as the ring for the wife is literally payment as part of the contract.

That said, Mrs. Jewbacca jammed one on immediately after the ceremony when we were in private (as does everybody, to my knowledge).

The number of Christians who go to Israel to be Baptised in the Jordan in Israel is staggering; often timed with some event, be it birthday or anniversary or whatnot.

Do you despise them as well? Or just Jews?

They point out that “to our sorrow” during the last year, President Barak Obama’s tenure in the White House, “You have worked against the State of Israel and the Jewish People”. They remind Emanuel of his recent comment to Israel’s consul general to Los Angeles, in which he is quoted as saying “I have had it with the Israelis”.

“You are not the first Jew in history trying to advance himself at the expense of his people. There were traitors before you such as Josephus Flavius and others, who in all likelihood also celebrated their bar mitzvah but we remember them as traitors, seeking riches and honor, at the expense of their people.

Its astonishing that Rahm Emanuel is on receiving end of such condemnation. A Jew being publically repudiated by Israel is going to leave a mark.

If you like musical satires of Rahm Emanuel, then this Israeli one would be something you’d enjoy.

It starts with a parody news interview.

"...... but it is wrong to punish the son."

Doesn't the Bible say something about the sins of a father will be passed on to the next generation(very loose paraphrasing)? So now the son should be denied because he has a thoughtless father.

But see, there's nothing wrong for this one son to be punished because our children will be punished and have to pay for the Stimulus and yet some aren't even born yet.

Yeah,I know, these comparisons have nothing in common.

The kid can have his Bar Mitzvah in the US just like all other kids.

Frankly words like a**hole is what comes to mind for me.

One of the many things I have always admired the Jewish people for, they have always identified who their enemies are.
