The upside of Yankee imperialism in Haiti: American generosity has leftists up in arms
The Washington Times ^ | January 25, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 01/22/2010 6:46:57 PM PST by Abakumov

Ten thousand U.S. troops were deployed to secure distribution centers, protect aid shipments and - most importantly - get the airport up and working. Some Haitians reportedly said the presence of U.S. troops made them "fear for their sovereignty," but in one case where food aid was air-dropped, a mob-scene resulted and people were killed. Haitian sovereignty cannot be left to the care of machete-wielding gangs.

Tales of a U.S. "invasion" to seize Haiti began to spread as soon as American boots were on the ground. Bolivia's socialist President Evo Morales called the U.S. relief effort "unjust, inhuman and opportunistic" and called for United Nations action to counter purported Yankee imperialism. Reports from Cuba, Ecuador, Guyana, Syria, Iran and elsewhere took an anti-American line. Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez went beyond the pale when he accused the United States of causing the Haitian earthquake with a secret weapon fired by Navy ships as a test for a future subterranean attack on Iran.

Hard to imagine leftists up in arms. Whining, maybe. But they wouldn’t know how to use a gun if they had one.

And if we had done nothing? The screams would have been just as loud. All the protesting countries combined couldn’t provide the help we are giving the Haitian people. They should just STFU and allow a country that is willing to help with no strings attached to do its job.

What’s the difference between Republican and Democrat presidents?

Republicans get Congressional authorization before they invade a county.

Come on.Don’t you know yet how Obama works? He had a choice between:

a) a rapid response ( to his mind,Imperialistic)military response that would have secured Port au Prince and delivered immediate military security and aid within 48 hours.

b) the kumbayah UN aid model with a conglomeration of aid agencies that will fight with the US military rather that
deliver stockpiled aid, AKA, the UN AID GOAT F_CK ( UNAGF).The UNAGF lines the pockets of crooks and organized crime in any country it “helps.”The people mostly starve and the aid agencies do mock protests about the barbaric nature of the testosterone driven natives, while simultaneously denigrating and interfering with military assistance.

Guess which model of aid Obama chose? Buahahahahahahahah!

Ask yourself: WHY?

You got to know how Obama works by now!

HINT1: ( the aid is designed not to work so that an emergency alternative will have to be invoked by Obama.)

HINT2: ( If you have to read hint 2 , you are either naive or dumber than dirt ( joke), but we take mercy on you in either case: I give you this word array: immigrant, refugees,votes,1 million, settle in red states)

************************************

Connect the dots.

Temporary Protected Status - Haiti

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Janet Napolitano, has determined that an 18-month designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti is warranted because of the devastating earthquake and aftershocks which occurred on January 12, 2010. As a result, Haitians in the United States (and other individuals without nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti) are unable to return safely to their country. DHS will continue to work with other branches of the United States Government to closely monitor developments in Haiti to determine the need for additional action.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will efficiently and timely process immigration applications** for TPS filed by nationals of Haiti. Further detailed information will be posted in the Federal Register Notice announcing the Secretary’s decision to designate Haiti. DHS estimates that approximately 100,000 to 200,000 individuals will be eligible for TPS.

** Couldn’t be any clearer. Green Cards and later the vote.

And all that vacant housing in Tampa waiting to be sold to naive Haitians for three times what the properties are worth (Sign here Haitians). Can you read my lips. More affirmative action mortgages to ruin America further. People are slow on the up take here. LOL.And Obama is blaming greedy bankers instead of Fannie/Freddie? Buahahahahahahahahaha!

It is time to let the Central and South Americans take the lead in solving their sphere of influence problems.

Let’s let Hugo Chavez take the post on this one!!!!

Still, going on two weeks and there are no relief teams from ANY of these countries there. If the US and Israel did not exist, there would be another 200,000 dead from starvation, violence, and disease now in addition to the earthquake victims.

These clowns see this and it is driving them CRAZY. Hence the increasingly insane pronouncements from these people.

That is so correct...we are damned if we do...damned if we don't.

From what I could tell in the beginning..the Haitian government was doing no organizing, NATO was doing no organizing, nobody was. A whole lot of people were starving and the country was descending into anarchy.

We are able, and willing, to do the job. We didn't stay in Indonesia after the tsunami, or any other area we have helped in. We won't stay in Haiti.

I have only one thing to say to this bunch of criticizers..

Lead..Follow or get out of the way and shush up.

Tell me exactly why we would want to take over a place that has mud and squalor? We already have Detroit.

Worst thing to say in a PC workplace: want to help homeless and starving blacks? Start with Detroit. Then south central LA. Then the Mississippi delta. When you’re done in the US, then we can worry about helping Haiti.
Of course, bringing up the fact that we have been told for years there are hundreds of thousands of unwanted black foster children here - and now we bring in thousands of Haitian orphans for care - my question is; isn’t this discriminatory against most kids in foster care, who are at least citizens?

Paranoid @ssholes.

I recall years ago after Iran suffered an earthquake, we shipped them food and supplies despite that fact they hated us. They accepted it and did we “invade”?

If those jerks ever experience an emergency, lets NOT help them.

Well, of COURSE. Who wouldn’t want to invade the black hole of charitable donations and take it over? I can’t imagine any country in the whole world who wouldn’t want to invade Haiti and make it theirs! (I mean, in case there’s a country with too much money and not enough problems.)
