In the news today, GW Bush endorsed Hutchison. This follows Chaney and other inside-the-beltway types endorsing Hutchison against Perry. IMHO, this is absolutely NOT the type of endorsements that Hutchison needs. Right now, in Texas, the sentiment is extremely anti-Washington, and the mood is "kick the ******ds out". All this is doing is further typing Kay Bailey to the Washington mess.
I wonder if the endorsements are truly endorsements for her or if they're reading the tea leaves and deciding that an endorsement for her actually supports Perry more.
bmmp
Lets see: Perry directed someone appointed by and answerable to the Governor vs. Kay Bailey advocating the killing of unborn children up to 6 months.
Nope, Perrys still way, way better.
Not real bright are you? The reason you are inundated with drug crime from south of the border is because drugs are illegal. Burn that in your brain. You don't see alcohol being run across the border by gangs do you? That's because it is legal, if prohibition was put back in place then you would see alcohol join the other illegal drugs coming across the border with the obligatory crime to go with it.
Making something illegal is what causes the crime because it generates MONEY for the people willing to take the risk of dealing in it. Legalize it, take the money out of it, and you will end the crime, or at least greatly reduce it.
People who think legalizing drugs would lead to moral decay are wrong. Until the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, drugs were LEGAL in this country. We had a lower crime rate, no gangs coming into the states and drug addiction was no worse than it is now population wise.
Yes, we have some alcoholics in this country, but we had then during prohibition also, legalizing alcohol did not cause the country to become a moral cess pool and neither will legalizing drugs.
The WOD is kept alive by the government because it makes them money and allows them to enact draconian laws such as the forfeiture laws.
Actually, I live in California. I grew up in Texas, and I want to retire there. I can’t vote, but I am very interested in this race.
The video is disturbing. 22 weeeks????? Geez.
You know where she stands on that issue. No doubt about it.
One reason I probably will vote for Perry—at least in the general election—is that over all the state has got the right business model. Voting for White would be a step toward Californization. For a liberal White is pretty pro-growth, but I observed when Ron Kirk ran the other year, even reasonable guys like him have to bow to the DNC.
I won’t defend her after seeing the video that hocndoc posted.
It’s a pretty bad video. KBH sounds very cold in her response.
After seeing that, I don’t know how I would vote. Don’t know if I could vote for her after seeing that. Wouldn’t vote for the democrat because they’ll be worse.
Thanks hocndoc for posting the link.
I’m not the most pro-life person around. But the way she talks about a fetus at 22 weeks was just unbelievable.
Even before 22 weeks you can feel babies moving. I’m trying to remember when I could feel my son have the hiccups. Ughh!
I think you can tell she never had a baby. It really does change your perspective on things.
Haven’t see this before. Thanks. Wonder if she knows Sarah Weddington, who is about her age? IAC, the feminists about that time were pretty foggy on embryology. They talked about embryos as clumps of tissue, or undiffentiated tumors etc. Hutchison’s mind is probably frozen at this stage of ignorance.
I agree, their endorsement is a repellent for me. BTW, maybe you need to change your screen name.
Looking at some of the 3-d Ultrasounds of children in the womb ought to be enough to melt the coldest heart, but doesn’t. Reminds me of a story of a German woman who was a guard at one of the camps. She was loading some Jews who were transferring from a work camp to a less pleasant place. A Jewish woman with two children was getting on, and the German was astonished to see that one of the children was a sweet-looking blonde who was the splitting image of her own daughter. It shook her to the core, and she did remember the incident when later questioned in court. But when asked how she could continue to do her work afterwards, she just shrugged. We can harden our hearts to anything.
IMO a GWHB endorsement is not a good thing. I’m still not over the way that he managed to squander the RR legacy in a few years as well as the removal of Saddam and give this country the grifter BJ Clinton.
I knew that she was supported by pro-abortion organizations, but had never seen this video, as I said. I was just finishing residency and starting my practice in ‘93, and don’t remember much at all about that race, except that I was sure Krueger would be worse. My mother told me that KBH had promised that if elected, she’d follow Graham’s lead on prolife votes, and seemed to do pretty well until stem cells and cloning came up in the late ‘90’s.
I have written and called since about ‘96, asking her to become the first pro-life woman Senator, with vague, almost completely disconnected - often from the subject and always from my purpose in writing.
Most of the time since ‘01, the subject was her stance on embryonic stem cells.I even visited her DC office several times when I was on the National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women from ‘02 to ‘05 (no thanks to her - Lamar Smith’s office worked to get me on an advisory committee and Graham’s office was always there for me - KBH’s didn’t even respond to calls and letters). Two of her staff met with me in the hall outside her office, once, but took my information with no promises. She claims to have changed her mind on “clone and kill,” but still backed the last embryo stem cell legislation that President Bush vetoed in ‘07.

Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family? (Medinas cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)
She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture. But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: Id not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when its immaterial.
No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.
She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.
So Im sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.
No, thanks, Ill stick with ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.
The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties
*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchisons amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.

I don't know if alcohol and drugs actually equate with one another. Large quantities of alcohol are difficult to produce and transport, hence the profit margin would be relatively small. I'm not sure having a taxed and regulated “Bob's Meth Lab” on every corner would stop illegal traffic.
In any event, you know what they say about opinions...
“Kay Bailey Hutchison built the GOP in Texas along with the Bushes while Rick Perry was a Democrat and chairman of AL GORE’s Texas campaign. Rick Perry picked Michael Dukakis over George Bush and Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter over Ronald Reagan! I’ll vote for Kay”
This was a comment from the Dallas Morning News.
If it’s true, who do you vote for. Kay has always voted with the republicans and supported republicans. However, her stance on abortion is atrocious. Her voting record is pretty conservative on the matter.
Perry was a democrat and has supported Al Gore who is an idiot who supports abortion, global warming, etc.
I will vote for Rick Perry who has been consistently pro-life and pro-family.
(I like vaccines that are ethically produced - they fit with my world view that includes germ theory. I also appreciated that the same EO that would have made Gardasil mandatory also directed the DSHS to make it easier for parents to opt out of mandatory vaccines.)
Plus, the only ad Ive seen or heard from her is saying she doesnt want the Trans Texas Corridor. To me, thats a dead issue.
Wasn’t Perry Bush’s handpicked successor as gov? What’s going on?
For starters look up Debra Medina's column 'Latinos and the GOP'
'Its a shame isnt it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?' Debra Medina
'Ignore them', Mrs Medina? Since when? What more do you want? Or shouldn't we ask?
