Tea Party Express Spending in Support of

 Scott Brown Surpasses $300,000+!

On Monday, the Tea Party Express (www.TeaPartyExpress.org) launched a final advertising salvo of TV and online ads supporting Scott Brown for U.S. Senate.

This latest action brings the total pro-Brown Independent Expenditure by the Tea Party Express to over $300,000.

In addition to the recent expenditure, the Tea Party Express has now sent nearly 10 million email blasts in support of Brown, and organized a national Volunteer From Home program for its 350,000+ members and supporters.  A copy of the Action Alert we issued tonight can be seen here: http://bit.ly/5gIt3J

The centerpiece of the ad campaign is this new TV ad endorsing Brown:

WATCH TV AD: "Tea Party Express Endorses Scott Brown" - HERE

The TV ads will air throughout the entire state of Massachusetts through the Special Election on January 19.

The ad buy includes both network affiliates (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX & CW Network) and cable news channels reachng voters throughout the state.  The Tea Party Express "maxed out" in purchasing the most spots available on local cable networks.

Because of the scarce inventory of advertising time available on local TV stations and local/regional cable networks in Massahusetts, the Tea Party Express has also begun purchasing airtime on national cable networks to reach the voters of Massachusetts.

"The thing is, the rates in Massachusetts are now so high because of the competition for ad space that they were almost as high as national ad rates anyways, and this race has certainly become a national referendum on the policies of Barack Obama and Congress," said Mark Williams, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.

The ad campaign has been funded by contributions from nearly 20,000 small donors who support the Tea Party Express effort.

“The Tea Party Express has chosen to support Scott Brown because his vote will be a critical component of blocking the deeply flawed healthcare bill currently being proposed by Congress,” explained Mark Williams, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.

"Scott Brown has generated a great deal of excitement from many supporters and activists within the tea party movement.  We appreciate his bold platform of lower taxes, less government spending and opposing the government-run healthcare bill that Harry Reid is trying to jam through," said tea party activist Amy Kremer, a spokesperson for the Tea Party Express.

"Tea Party Express Spending in Support of Scott Brown Surpasses $300,000+!

This further supports the argument that Republicans don't need the RNC:

I think we’re ready for some new nomenclature that is downright heroic, indicative of these past 12 months, and that the homo talking heads on the MSM can’t chortle about:

“T-PUBLICANS”

Mostly (R), but not married to the Party; dissatisfied with the socialist obamanistas’ designs on this country; married instead to the US Constitution. T-Publicans: coming to a mid-term election near you!

Hi Titus: This is a really good question that has come up a bit, and I discussed it with a San Francisco Chronicle reporter who raised it with me today as well.

We here at the Tea Party Express endorsed Scott Brown and spent money on his behalf, because of the following reasons:

*He will be the 41st vote and can help us improve our chances of stopping ObamaCare, as well as being the vote to stop a whole host of other 60-vote issues Obama/Reid/Pelosi wish to pass.

*He actually campaigned on being the 41st vote and made it a national referendum against ObamaCare. Furthermore he campaigned on cutting taxes and lower spending. He did this in the GENERAL election campaign - not the primary. For a Republican in Massachusetts to do this in a general is really striking and yet Brown is ahead (an argument we conservatives always point out - these issues are winners). So he comes in with the mandate of not having to be a liberal Republican, but can actually vote more conservatively than any other mainstream Massachusetts Republican would ever be - were they to even win.

*Brown was with the tea party movement early on, and was a featured speaker at the Worcester Tea Party on April 15th - at a time when there were still many establishment Republicans out there being critical of the tea party movement. That counts for something, and was another kind of "test passed" to show that we could hope for some real improvement in the Senate with Scott Brown as that 41st vote.

There are other reasons, but this sums it up quite well.

I guess the succinct way of putting it is this: when that first Rasmussen Poll came out where Brown was only down 9% we looked at one another (among the Tea Party Express staff and leadership) and said: "this is going to be the best shot we have to get the most conservative Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Massachusetts, the guy is trying to make this a national referendum against the Democrat's healthcare plan, and could be the 41st vote to stop it. How can we NOT make a push to try and pull off the upset?"

Coakley has responded with an ad that ties Brown, Palin, and the Tea Party together in a nice little package. Palin is even seen on screen in the ad...

This was a mistake...Tea Party and Sarah Palin are POISON in New England. That is precisely WHY Sarah has not offered an endorsement until tonight...hopefully; Coakley’s flood of ads tying Brown to Palin are too late to do any damage...

I disagree with your perception on the tea party movement.

There is a reason that the Rasmussen poll had a hypothetical "tea party" party as more popular than either Republicans or Democrats.

A lot of those folks who have formed a favorable opinion of this movement are Independents who were the crucial swing vote to Obama in 2008 and have been the group that has experienced the biggest change in their positions.

Don't buy into the media's myth that Republicans can't run on fiscal conservatism (which is what Brown is doing). The reason that Brown surged in the past week was because of his opposition to the healthcare bill, his calls for lower taxes, less spending, etc... These are all the tea party issues, and I think you're seeing a crystalization in Massachusetts of a Republican and Independent voting bloc coming together for tomorrow that will be supportive of the tea party's positions, and the tea party activists' opposition to the direction Congress has been going.

I’m not buying into any myth...Brown was doing just fine on his own; but now thanks to this ‘Tea Party’ organization, we are under assault from a barrage of Coakley ads tying Brown to the ‘Tea Party’ AND Sarah Palin. It is probably too late to affect the vote; but this ‘Tea Party’ ad buy was completely unnecessary, and, with time; would have harmed Brown’s campaign. Rest of America? Great idea. New England? Dumb.

Well I completely disagree.

So we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one!

One thing I believe we do agree on; and that is the hope that Brown beats Coakley like a drum tomorrow night.

A question: Someone receives a Tea Party email with a link to Brown’s contribution site. The person makes a contribution. Does Brown’s campaign know the money started from a Tea Party email?

RE: “I’m not buying into any myth...Brown was doing just fine on his own; but now thanks to this ‘Tea Party’ organization, we are under assault from a barrage of Coakley ads tying Brown to the ‘Tea Party’ AND Sarah Palin”

*************

I’m on the Tea Party e-mail list but am too busy to read all their messages. They may have sent out requests for money for Brown, but I sent my donation after hearing Mark Levin’s appeal for contributions.

I don’t think there will be damage from any linkup between Tea Party and Sarah Palin and Scott Brown. I do believe that came too late in this race to have an effect. Besides, Palin never showed up in Mass., and the Tea Partiers don’t routinely send their notes to anyone who has not specifically signed up.
