Haiti is NOT socialism.

The country may receive billions, but the people receive no help of any kind, with the corrupt leaders takig it all. Some of them even live in Europe.

IMO, they should be taken out and shot. This is Exhibit A for the fact that CORRUPTION KILLS, regardless of country.

And for all of the people who say they should have just overthrown their government, what if a few of us marched on DC with guns because our current crop of leaders here are not following the Consitution? It ain’t as easy as it looks.

Keep in mind the ‘sign up date’, Red. I think they are trolls trying to make this site look bad. FR’ers are not like this. These are loons from the other side.

You were saying ...

As long as you keep on spreading your hate, I will be calling you out on it.

You better start "calling the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" out on it, as that's where it comes from... the Bible as the Word of God...

Sorry if you don't like it...

LOL... what excuse do you have for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, then? :-)

It’s a shame when legalism and religion are confused with Christianity and the ways of Christ. But, if the bible is being referred to, let us remember how mericiful Christ has reminded us to be to those in deep need and the spiritual consequences involved.

Matthew 5:

blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

or James 2:14-16

14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

or Even Matthew 25: 34

34”Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37”Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40”The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

41”Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44”They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45”He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46”Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

That will be their pay off if they have the right attitude towards the dear leader. Look for soviet Lenin style posters to go up in P-A-P soon.

Cold hearted, Well this cold hearted guy took in three families after Katrina, contibutes more money to the Salavation Army than you would believe, have rescused over 20 dogs in the last ten years and I STILL will not give a dime to haiti, when it is resolved as best as possible, they will blame the US(with the exception of the kenyan) for all thier problems and will say...”why didn’t you do more and where is the rest” and they will be in the same shape as they were before the earthquake....I have seen no evidence of them helping themselves.

Not all Haitian practice voodoo. Only 50% or so. And if you were living in dire poverty maybe you would invoke the devil too. Give Satan a chance

Katrina was forecast for a week.....people heading to the Superdome on Sunday before Katrina were told to have several days of food and water with them....buses stood empty.....

this is nothing like Katrina except no one is critidcizing bama for aid that sits at an airport while people die....boy if Dubya was in charge he be practically lynched by ther meida....

there was a story on Fox about an orphanage hidden behind the rubble, with about 20 little babies and toddlers without food or water, but their caretakers stayed with them....

IF REPORTERS ARE ABLE TO GET ALL THESE PICTURES WHY ISN'T THERE HELP?....

hello newbie...

you're attitude is both alarming and sad....cynical and bizzare.

I put everything into the category of.. WHAT WOULD GOOD PEOPLE OF FAITH ( ANY FAITH) DO IN SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES?...WHAT WOULD ATHEISTS DO?

the answer is the same....any good person, any humane person...would send some money....

charity is its own reward anyway....

open your heart....

I've seen figures of 75% to 90%, in past articles that I've read, that practice voodoo in Haiti...

However, here's a reference for 70% practicing voodoo in Haiti...
Haiti Voodoo

Here's a reference for as high as 85% (from WorldNetDaily)
Voodoo and Clinton's fate

That's just a couple of examples I found quickly, but I'm sure that there have been studies of it, and it does appear to be a lot higher than 50%... :-)

As far as invoking the devil or Satan, take a look at the book of Job (in the Bible) -- and Job who was in very dire circumstances and he never invoked the devil but only God... I think you'll find the same for all Christians...

A lack of evidence is not an evidence of lack. Basic logic. Esp when you factor in our sensationalizing media, all bets are off!

I would like to know why we keep hearing of missionaries so glad to get out on a flite and get back home...

ok...so why did you go down there if you buzz out at a crisis?

(in Haiti extensively 1987-2001)

btw...for the torches and pitchforks crowd here...it doesn’t matter whether aid “fixes” the hellhole known as Haiti

it’s about being decent to help folks right now who are within easy reach of our help

no I don’t think Haiti can be permanently fixed baring something like half the population moving to Senegal on that offer and a more skilled culture and capital coming in bigtime but that does not mean just letting folks die today if we can help

Hey give the prez a break. It was wookie’s birthday yesterday so he had a party last night. Today he had to go try to save Martha. Tomorrow he might have some time for Haiti. Good grief, he’s only one person. /s
Why is it our duty? why can’t China, France, Germany, Japan and the others take over.

Exactly right. A friend left Haiti the Monday before the quake hit. She was so saddened... She's part of Hope for Haiti. They want to go back as quickly as they can.

If people expect missionary trips to be like vacations, they shouldn't be missionaries, plain and simple.

As for me, I certainly don't have any spare money. But, I have a helluva lot more than the people of Haiti. When I framed it in that context, I found a hundred bucks to give to Unicef.

How anyone can just give up on suffering people is beyond me. It certainly isn't Christ-like, and I know its cliche, but what would Jesus do? He certainly would not ignore the suffering, shrug his shoulders and pass blame on to others.

I want to remind people, too, that even though we are the United States- the most powerful country in the world, we received a millions of dollars from countries around the world after Katrina. Millions of people around the world mourned for us on 9-11.

Perhaps I'm just an optimist, but I believe in the good in people, especially during tragedies like this. There is enough evil on earth. But the minute we turn our backs on those who are truly in dire need of help, we have succumbed to the very evil we condemn others for.
