Scott Brown: Winning Nicely
http://spectator.org ^ | Jan 15, 2010 | By Robert Stacy McCain

NEEDHAM, Mass. -- Karen Wright stood behind the counter at Mighty Subs and explained why she plans to vote for Republican Scott Brown in Tuesday's special election.

"He loves our chicken parm," Wright said, referring to an Italian-style parmesan chicken sandwich that is a house specialty at the diner near Brown's Senate campaign headquarters here.

Brown is a regular at Mighty Subs, which boasts of its oversized sandwiches, "Our Small Is Their Large." Wright says of the three-term state senator, "He's a nice guy, very down-to-earth."

Brown's nice-guy likeability may be his strongest advantage in the race to fill the Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy in a state where registered Democrats outnumber GOP voters three-to-one. His affable, easygoing manner offers a stark contrast to his opponent, state attorney general Martha Coakley, whose chief argument for her own election seems to be that Brown is a Republican.

...

A lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard married to a popular local TV personality, Brown is portrayed in his campaign ads as a hard-working family man who speaks the language of "common sense." The Coakley campaign, once it was forced to take notice of the Republican's gathering strength, has tried to depict him as an ideological extremist -- a "far-right tea-bagger," as Sen. Chuck Schumer called Brown in a fundraising e-mail earlier this week.

Schumer's pejorative reference to Tea Party protesters may generate contributions from panic-struck Democratic donors, but support from the grassroots movement can scarcely be considered a liability, in light of recent polls showing the Tea Party more popular than either Republicans or Democrats.

I knew the tea party allegation was a lie but of course that is how the left plays ball. This time the gig is up and the people are clued in.

When potential Brown voters stay home because they figure Brown has it won
is when Coakley will steal the election.

There is also the FRAUD factor to be concerned about. Brown must win BIG, beyond 4% to get elected. Demoncrats are liars and steal elections.

I hope Brown wins. Some of the money he raised was from me!

HELP SCOTT !!

(stole this from another FReeper, but bears repeating)

•People in ANY state can volunteer for the phone bank! http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topics/phone-calls-for-freedom-call-1?commentId=2600775%3AComment%3A1891491&xg_source=activity

•Anyone… Anywhere… Contribute! https://www.icontribute.us/scottbrown

•Live in or near MA? Volunteers still needed at many regional offices. If you can help, please email Laura@brownforussenate.com and she will tell you how.

•If you live in Massachusetts, become an election judge. In Boston they pay $135-$185 and they NEED Republican monitors.

Needed; military and retired law enforcement VFW and police organizations etc to monitor polls- prevent the voter fraud they’re plotting right now. Video tape everything; document everything; prosecute the perpetrators. http://www.cityofboston.gov/news/default.aspx?id=3599

I just realized why “teabag” is becoming a respectable ideological label! Only pervy Dems think it’s dirty, but normal people think it sounds like “sandbag” as in “Oh, he got sandbagged - he never saw it coming.” But of course, tea is patriotic, so to teabag the liberals must mean to totally stun them with patriotism!

I will no longer be ashamed to say teabag in public again.

Boston is the home of the original Tea Party! Liberals like to ridicule American history. There is no reason to be ashamed of our ancestors standing up to British taxation, injustice and oppression. The same things they fought against, Americans are fighting against in our own day!

Needs to win by enough margin to avoid recount delay.

Wright says of the three-term state senator, "He's a nice guy, very down-to-earth."

We may be seeing the beginnings of a new phenomenon on the political landscape, the rise of the Everyman candidate. New compared to the PR-spawned veneered-tooth phantoms that we have had foisted upon us for the last 20 years, if not longer. Such media creations come from a world that we do not inhabit. Scott Brown does. Sarah Palin does. Col. West does. It could be that these desperate times call for genuine individuals such as these to respond, come to the fore and lead, and these individuals we will follow because they are us. And once this commonality between candidate and voter is established, we're theirs. No amount of money can buy this reality; no amount of speechifying can convince us otherwise against our will and better judgment. We know instinctively whether that person is one of us or not, and no amount of CNN vitriol or MSNBC venom is going change our view.

Maybe folks are sick of being represented in the Senate by so-called “patricians”.

Yum. When I lived in Boston, my favorite sub shop was called the Yellow Submarine. Did they demolish it when they made luxury condos out of the old Charles Street Jail?

And of folks who think they can just slide into a US Senate seat that's kept warm for them.

He must win initially by at least 10% because “recounts” will whittle that down to 1%.

"But of course, tea is patriotic, so to teabag the liberals must mean to totally stun them with patriotism!"

Or we can give it to them on their own terms and meaning if they'd like. "Libtard, I just teabagged you!" Works for me!

I just listened to Charles Krauthamer talking about this race on Hugh Hewitt’s show. Krauthamer tends to be on target. The good news, according to him. A Brown win will be perhaps the biggest midterm election earthquake (his word) in practically forever (my words). It would kill Obamacare and mark the death of Obama’s agenda. The bad news? He thinks Coakley is still likely to pull it out, what with Obozo going to Massachusett(e)s.

Maybe nice guys do finish last. Whatever, the fact the Democrats have to spend money on a race that should be a lock isn't a good sign for them.

This means nothing. Martha is talking with all of the important people. No need to waste time talking with the peasants, they only get to vote once. The important people vote as many times as necessary to ensure that Martha wins.

That’s what Bill Clinton calls “Good Governance”. Understand?
