Usually the "somebody" is your boss, Gibbs.
If Pat Robertson kept his mouth zipped, so would have Robert Gibbs. Both sides comments stunk to high heaven!
PR was right about Hugo Chavez, though. The world (especially the people of Venezuela) would have been much better off had we dispatched a sniper to Caracas to put a few grains of lead between that bastard’s beady eyes.
Just like every day you step up to the podium, butt boy.
He should know
But, what if he is right!
So has conservative talk show host Michael Savage, who beat the WHHC (white house hooker corps) by a day. Milwaukee talk show host Charlie Sykes and most conservative hosts worth their salt. Not only was this fundamentalist preacher’s comments stupid, he was historically incorrect. Actually Haitians are far more religious and their Catholic segment put American Catholics to shame.

As for Roberts... idiot is a compliment...
Amateur hour continues at the Obama White House.
Robertson is a fool and his comments were stupid...
Turning against Pat Robertson and his supporters by calling them stupid from the podium of the White House is probably just as foolish. The standard answer to questions of this sort is ‘no comment’, or ‘We don’t pay attention to individual remarks’, or ‘his remarks were unfortunate’.
You dont infer the man is stupid Even though he clearly is. The White House podium should have a little couth, but Gibbs is just as likely to make stupid remarks as Robertson is. And his response to the question is proof of that.
"And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants." (Leviticus 18:25)Blaming God for our choices is wrong and I believe Pat to be wrong every time he does that. My heart goes out to all the people of Haiti because God knows I've done my share of sinning in my life and to date I have had to pay the price for those sins. I can really sympathize with them especially after having lived through Ike. The point is, the people that live in Haiti choose to ignore God's principles. They practice witchcraft, voodoo, Islam, and just about every other form of demonic worship they can. The earth cannot continue to live with such debauchery and as the scripture above says she will vomit such people up.
Folks don't like it? Repent. But will they? Scripture also tells us...
"And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds." (Revelation 16:11)Folks never seem to learn do they? Now that God's been blamed and not the inhabitants of the land I'm waiting for Bush to get blamed. After all isn't everything Bush's fault?
Prayers to God for the Haitians. I pray that He will show mercy on those that are still alive and pray that they will experience a speedy recovery. I hope the Haitians are open to receive that.
What bugged me was the basic ignorance. Robertson said the Haitians overthrew French rule and Napoleon III before making their pact with the devil. Haitian independence occurred in 1804, and Napoleon III was born in 1808.

The true evil is that it has been an island in a perpetual state of rape since it became a colony — either by the colonialists or its previous ruler, DuVallier. The poverty looks pretty much the same and has for centuries. The true evil is allowing it to continue and perpetrating the misery that has been allowed to incubate and reproduce.
Yes, he “acted stupidly.”
” . . . like clockwork, happens with some regularity.”
clockwork . . . SOME regularity.
Can’t Gibbs buy a better clock?
The Libs are having a field day with this, of course, but I’m surprised even Freepers didn’t bother to look for the entire context of what Robertson said. He may be tactless or have a wacky view of history but in the SAME statement he also said that Christians should do whatever they can to help Haiti, pray for them, and pray that some good comes from this tragedy.
What Pat Robertson said was stupid, but I think the point of Robertson’s comment that is lost on many, is that God uses tragedies such as these to bring all of us closer to Him.
Hey Gibbs, are these comments also utterly stupid?
“Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!” If we shall suppose that American Slavery is one of those offences which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South, this terrible war, as the woe due to those by whom the offence came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a Living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgments of the Lord, are true and righteous altogether.”
I suspect they only dragged Robertson out to talk about Haiti, a subject on which he has no knowledge, because they believed he would say something stupid. And they were right.
