What are the rules (not that the Dems will necessarily follow them)?

If Brown wins, can Coakley stay in until he is certified? Surely she would lose her seat if she loses the election, no?

If she loses, then the Dems would still only have 59 votes out of 99. Is that enough to impose cloture? or is it 59 votes out of 100?

In other words, it seems as if it’s a matter of when Coakley leaves as well as when Brown is sworn in. What the rules are in a case like this, I have no idea.

Coakley is not the Senator. The current Senator is a place-holder Kennedy sycophant who was appointed by the Governor. He will vote the way he is told to vote.

My guess is that the Dem(on)s will contest the election results, no matter how legitimate and wide the margin, for months until they can get their communism rammed down our throats.

I would assume Coakley stays in until the winner is certified. So even if she loses, she "wins."
