Bill Clinton helped sink his wife’s chances for an endorsement from Ted Kennedy by belittling Barack Obama as nothing but a race-based candidate.
“A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee,” the former president told the liberal lion from Massachusetts, according to the gossipy new campaign book, “Game Change.”
The book says Kennedy was deeply offended and recounted the conversation to friends with fury.
After Kennedy sided with Obama, Clinton reportedly griped, “the only reason you are endorsing him is because he’s black. Let’s just be clear.”
Holy crap, Clinton DOES tell the truth on occasion!
I have no problem with what Clinton said. He was being honest. And Kennedy knew it.

I’m calling BS on this one. There wasn’t any love lost between the Kennedys and the Clintons. if the swimmer did endorse Hillary, I think I would have hit the floor.
Yea, the NE elite never liked the Clintons, too earthy I imagine. Funny, considering Teddy’s earthiness. I saw Teds endorsement as the entitled Kennedy wing re-asserting their King maker credentials within the party. Remember King Dukakis? Shoosh - if it weren’t my country I would laugh.
