also, keep in mind the impact on the remainder of our “sources”. Now all of them are under suspicion. All of them will have to be reevaluated, maybe dropped. A whole new batch cultivated cleanly, from scratch. AQ will have a great chance of figuring out who they are by careful observation over the next few months.
This will no doubt make a bunch of peopke at CIA very paranoid. Reminds me of Jim Angleton and the Nosenko affair in the 60s and how he became convinced that all our agents were really KGB doubles and it basically ruined the effectiveness of our entire operation.
This will have repurcussions far beyond just the bombing.
I also wouldn’t be too quick to blame Obama. After all, the Ames and Hanssen debacles both happened under Reagan/Bush and Bush was even a fmr DCI.
