Three dead in shopping centre massacre

AT least three people have been killed in a shooting at a Finnish shopping mall.

Reports by state broadcaster YLE, citing police sources, said four people were dead. Independent MTV3 television put the figure at three dead.

Around six shots were discharged from about 08:20 GMT in the Sello shopping centre in Espoo, west of the capital Helsinki.

One or more people were shot at the Prisma grocery store. At least one employee was seen lying on the floor on the upper level of the centre. A man, described as being in his late teens and dressed in black, was then seen walking towards the Citymarket grocery shop.

Coincidentally, Espoo (a city west of Helsinki) is the place where Nokia is based and the bulk of the cell phones are made.

The attacks have led to calls for gun ownership to be limited and much soul-searching among Finland's five million people.

Gun control is NOT the answer.

Police have confirmed to YLE that a sixth person found dead in Espoo on Thursday was the perpetrator of a shooting rampage at the Sello shopping mall. Four people were shot dead at the shopping centre on Thursday. A fifth victim, an ex-girlfriend of the suspect, was found dead in a flat in Espoo.

Following the incident, police began a manhunt for the suspect, Ibrahim Shkupolli. They said he was considered armed and dangerous, and had run-ins with the police in the past.

The Helsinki District Court had sentenced Shkupolli to a 20-day fine in 2007 for firearm offence. The Espoo District Court had also sentenced Shkupolli for a firearm offence. He was also slapped with a restraining order.

How about cause of death - lax justice.

Just to nitpick a little, atheism is not a religion. There are no tenants to adhere to, no ritual, no dogma. It is an expression of disbelief. Now, if the Kosovars have truly left Islam for atheism, why isn't the rest of the Muslim world taking the fight to their new "infidels?" It's because they're still Muslim, just not officially practicing Muslims.
