What Recession? Michelle Obama Wears $635 Shoes on $4000 Per Night Hawaii Vacation

Barack Obama enjoys living like a king, so why shouldn't Michelle Obama live like a queen?

The First Lady was photographed last night in Hawaii wearing $635 per pair designer shoes by Maison Martin Margiela.

The shoe style is called "Leather open toe flat pumps." It features a "thin nude leather strap across the top of the toe."

A woman lucky enough to have a job in this economy and working for the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would have to work 88 hours (without taxes taken out) to make enough to pay for Michelle Obama's shoes. If she can get them on sale, they would only set her back $445 for 62 hours work.

The Obamas are staying at an $8.9 million estate for an estimated $4000 per night. To cover the Obama's ten night stay, the minimum wage worker would have to work two-and-a-half years (before taxes) to come up with the $40,000 Obama is reportedly laying out.

Obama has lectured Americans about how they can not expect to live their lives as indulgently as they have in the past. He has lectured businesses about their travel and pay. Yet Obama and his wife live like kings and queens.

The news media has yet to call him out on his extravagance when there is 10% unemployment with no sign of the employment picture improving this coming year.

In 1867 the Reconstructed Lousiana State legislature voted themselves $250,000 worth of Christmas hams.

Those are some ugly shoes and look very uncomfortable!

They certainly do not camouflage some very ugly feet -- it seems almost every photo posted zooming in on her feet, terribly unattractive. Does this woman not know the benefits of a bottle of "Pretty Feet and Hands"??

Quite the trendsetter...

My hub, no fashion mogul by any means, said this to me the other night when I was complaining about all the *most glamorous woman* listings, how gawd-awful she is dressed, those ridiculous belts and sweaters: "You know it is false praise unless you see it copied, worn all over the place." I couldn't believe I hadn't considered that at all -- these flats, perhaps, the invisible band may catch on, but no way are the women in Paris, New York runways, haute couture going to be sporting those ginormous belts. The Grimm Brothers are laughing themselves silly right now.

This v-neck dress, with a twist in the fabric just below the bust-line, is flattering to the first lady’s pear shape.

That reporter can expect audits of his tax returns from 2006 - 2011, assuming we vote Barry's butt out in 2012.

While we can vote Barry's butt out, it's going to take a scoop loader to remove Michelle's from the WH.

I’m not a 0 apologist by any stretch of the imagination, but they can afford nice things. Are they setting a good example? Now that’s a different question...

TOTUS' definition of "leadership" has to be 179 degrees out from mine. Mine came from eight plus years as an Army officer, four of which were spent as a battery commander or platoon leader.

Am not so sure they were “formerly poor and disempowered”...here’s some info on our First Lady’s “OLD” Job - Poor Gal.....
For those that don’t know it, there are some really good jobs in Illinois (like the one Michelle had before she became First Lady). (Wow, she must have been really good at her job!)
At the top right hand corner of page 17 of the New York Post, January 24, 2009, was a column entitled “Replacing Michelle” in the National Review, The Week. Here it is below as it appeared:
“Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical Center hired her in 2002 to ‘run programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting’. In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 – nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator. Her husband, Barak Obama, had just become a US Senator. He sure had. He requested $1 million earmark for UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network, Michelle!
Now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000? Let me add that Michelle’s position was a part-time, 20 hr. a week job.”
How did this tidbit escape the sharp reporters that dug through Sarah Palin’s garbage and kindergarten files? I hope this is forwarded so many times, that the media will HAVE to cover it.

She has worn these before. . .can only think that she bares her arms, so as to deflect attention from the rest of her upper body and likes her toes showing, so that one might notice her legs. Kind of very upscale; just short of a ‘flip/flop’; she imagines flattering to her rather large foot. And maybe it is. . .

Are the toes supposed to hang off the front like that?

NO. . .and this may be antoher reason she likes open 'toes'. ..beyhond getting the camera attention - instead of her legs/butt - she imagines she can wear a smaller shoe. Not only vain; but oh sooooo wrong.

Beyond the daners of Obama; really, Michelle cannot 'go here' for another four! (And now her hand in the restaurant soup pot and meat loaf/sigh.)

That said. . .the band on this shoe worn by Michelle, should have been black. These shoes meant for different color feet and ‘petite feet’ at that. . .would help. . .
