Unemployment Calls Overwhelm Server.
Unemployment claims have been flooding into the state Department of Labor, dragging the filing system to a crawl.
Due to the high volume of claim filing, you may experience some difficulty filing your claim via the Web or by telephone. We apologize for any inconvenience, the Web site says. http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/
A spokeswoman says the Department of Labor issued 156,673 benefit checks during the week of Dec. 13-19, up nearly 50 percent from 105,431 last year.
The agency has been "incredibly busy" with claims and was "flooded with calls," she said.
The system overload comes just a couple days after the state announces that the unemployment rate dropped from 8.8 percent in October to 8.2 percent.

The same thing happened here in PA this past Sunday as I tried to log on.
Anyone else find a dichotomy in that statement??
Maybe if the Gov’t tries to raise taxes and increase entitlements things will get better ....... < /sarcasm>
I believe the liberals truly want to bankrupt this country, intentionally and with malice of forethought. Because, when they destroy America, they will be free to replace our ‘ancient Constitution’ with anything they want.
Somebody's nose is growing?
Hmmm. Wonder if they’re hiring?
This happened to someone I know who lived in PA but was employed by a NJ company. It was completely impossible for him to get through via phone, and he could not file over the web because his address kept getting rejected.
I might be in a position to finally leave this state in 6 months or so, but not the way I would like!
Connecticut Unemployment laid off all the people who checked if you were lying on your unemployment documents as to whether you were looking for a job back in the late 90’s.
When I was going through a lot of the layoffs I had then, someone at unemployment told me that right out. He said, Dont bother, no one is looking anymore. They were laid off.
Dont know if I was pwned or anything, but that is what the guy said.
Maybe an inconsistency.
I think the problem could be seasonal adjustments. Seasonal adjustments are based on historical patterns, weighted more heavily towards the recent past. The surge in unemployment last year at this time is used to “seasonally adjust” this month’s figures.
Not a problem Race. Associated Propagandists can write whatever they want AND they can never be challenged collectively. An individual with name affixed to a story is insulated from questions as propaganda is one-way communication. We the people are not given the opportunity to directly question the deceiver.
I would say that an overwhelming number of calls at state agencies is concrete proof that things are not as rosy as the government figures indicate.
Once again, the government is just lying to us.
I’m wondering if the rise of unemployment requests are part of a protest movement against the Obama regime?
Perhaps many Americans are “Going Galt” in the spirit of ATLAS SHRUGGED - In other words, going on strike in an attempt to destroy the Leftard Army of Occupation in D.C.?
“Who is John Galt?” BTW?
A wise man once said, “Reality can only be avoided for so long.”
We should use U6 as the real unemployment number. This is the only number which could be used for apples to apples comarison for say, comparisons with the Great Depression, as that was the number used then.
(U6 is currently over 17%)
This is how Cloward-Piven works....overload the system.
Before this year, I never was a believer that that was truly what they were doing. But looking at everything they are trying to pass, how can one come to any OTHER conclusion but that?
I wonder if the people who ran out of regular benefits and are now on Extended and High Extended Benefits are counted?
Life is rough when you are SERVING the PEOPLE.
Cheers!
