Why let a holiday season come between the White House and making some political statements? The White House pegged controversial designer Simon Doonon to oversee the Christmas decorations for the White House. Mr. Doonon, who is creative director of Barney’s New York has often caused a stir with his design choices. Like his naughty yuletide window display of Margaret Thatcher as a dowdy dominatrix and Dan Quayle as a ventriloquist’s dummy. For this year’s White House, he didn’t disappoint.
These photos of ornaments on the White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room were taken just days ago. Of course, Mao has his place in the White House.

I hope when the trash is thrown out of the WH they throw out the ornaments with them.
I read (probably here), that the wookie went downstairs in the white house and gathered up boxes of unique one of a kind hand made ornaments from previous administrations, and had them repainted. This must be the result of that. I know it is a huge honor for people to be able to contribute these hand made ornaments. I feel extremely bad for each and every one of the artists who’s work was blantantly desecrated in this manner.
I was speaking to a liberal at my fitness club who denied MAO-bama was a communist. They are extraordinarily stupid and gullible....and DENIERS. How in the heck do you have a conversation with such dimwits?
I’m surprised they didn’t have an ornament displaying a shredded US Constitution. Maybe they do, who knows....
The ornaments were left over from other WH Christmases, and sent out across the country to be decorated by groups. Not sure who they were sent to...pretty hideous.
