(May09) American General Keith Dayton praises Fatah Soldiers as 'Founders of Palestinian State'
The Jerusalem Gift Shop ^ | FRIDAY, 01 MAY 2009 03:24

Palestinian Authority Special Forces were praised this week by an American general for becoming the founders of a new Arab country within Israel's current borders.

Addressing a battalion in Tulkarm that recently finished training in Jordan, US lt. General Keith Dayton said: "As I look at you, I couldn't be more proud of the fact that you stepped up to be the founders of a Palestinian state."

The United States plans to expand a program to bolster Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's security forces in the occupied West Bank, the general in charge of training and equipping them said Monday.

"We have plans to train at least three more battalions before this time next year," Lieutenant General Keith Dayton told Reuters. Each battalion has about 500 members.

"If it goes the way the administration has asked for, we will accelerate dramatically what we are doing here.

Over the past year, Israel had pardoned more than 250 Fatah terrorists implicated in the attacks in 2003 and 2004, and many of them were absorbed in PA security forces.

Now, Israeli intelligence sources say, dozens of these pardoned Fatah terrorists have returned to the fighting Israel.

Once trained by the U.S, the return of Fatah to terrorist activity against could place Israel on a collision course with Fatah’s American military advisers.

This could create a nightmare scenario of American military personnel caught in the crossfire between Israeli troops and Fatah terrorists.

The American consulate in Jerusalem has so far not commented on the fact that Fatah security forces, known as the al-Aqsa Brigades, are defined by American law as a terrorist entity and possibly are being inadvertently aided by the U.S. military.

I saw this quote online from a poster.

http://www.masjidtucson.org/quran/noframes/ch5.html

Quran

God Gives the Holy Land to Israel

[5:21] “O my people, enter the holy land that GOD has decreed for you, and do not rebel, lest you become losers.”

[5:22] They said, “O Moses, there are powerful people in it, and we will not enter it, unless they get out of it. If they get out, we are entering.”

[5:23] Two men who were reverent and blessed by GOD said, “Just enter the gate. If you just enter it, you will surely prevail. You must trust in GOD, if you are believers.”

Have you read up on zionism? I don’t completely understand it all but zionist could have paid to save Jews from ovens and they refused.

Some zionist have no regard for Israeli Jews. I beleive Rahm and his terrorist father are zionists.

"FamilyOp, can’t tell you how much that crap bothers me.

You touch on some very important issues there, and that’s a big reason why I am not a big fan of Bush or Rice.

The preposterous premise that Israel is the reason there is no Palestinian nation, is a hoax. The Palestinians have had a number of chances to become a nation if only they wanted that more than to destroy Israel.

The Palestinians haven’t been willing to give up one thing for peace.
"

Well, you probably know that it bothers me, too. When we're bothered by knowledge that most people don't want to accept, we have two general choices.

* We can accept what we've learned, and the knowledge will influence our actions later.

* We can deny the existence of the evil in front of us out of fear and certainty that evil will continue to prevail.

It's easy for people on high perches to get a little out of touch. See "Grand Illusions [Condi's plan for the Middle East--Long]."

It's happened quite few times before in history. They not only knew. Their daily lives were centered around the propaganda and other efforts of what they had participated in.

“We are training Fatah to kill...”

Not for the 1st time in history to remind you.
AQ collected their first wave from the reminds of the guys the U.S. and several muslim states (S.A., Egypt, Pakistan etc) funded with money and weapons to fight the soviet invasors in afghanistan.
And after this nearsighted foreign policy the ghost refused to go back into the bottle.

Sad to hear some in the foreign office didnt read the “Learn from the past” quote

President Obama's envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, has asked Dayton, the American who has been overseeing the training of Mahmoud Abbas's police forces, to stay on for two more years.

Shouldn't that be Gates asking that???

don’t be sorry, I appreciate your knowledge.

What bothers me is Obama’s desire to fund Abbas when there is suspicion it funds Hamas. That Hillary and others have said they have tried to keep it out of his hands with safeguards but there are no promises.

And the reports Obama funded Hamas when he sat on the board at Woods.

And what bothers me is Abbas blatently denying Israel. In this instance I feel we are involved in another Osama Bin Laden. We will fund them and they will turn on us.

A question for Americans: would you want a single dollar to get into the hands of Hamas? No?

Then brace yourselves.

Because if changes in American law are pushed through, financial aid will be sent to a unified Palestinian government – even if Hamas officials are part of that government.

Why should we be surprised when we have a Resident who is a closet Muzzie? It would serve his goal to spread the religion of “peace”. Don't you recall his greetings sent round the world at the start of Ramadan and the Hajj? Hear any greetings to our Jewish friends at the start of Hanukkah?

Remember, many of the flag rank officers, not all but many, were promoted to more senior ranks during the Clinton years.
Look back at some of these general officers over say the past 16 years or so and consider their thinking. There are names that come to mind...

I can understand some doubting Obama would be doing this. But what we do know about Obama is he gets legislation in place for his future agenda.

http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2009/04/27/obama-asks-congress-to-allow-us-funds-to-terrorist-hamas-govt/

Florida Congresswoman Illeana Ross Lethinen raised the issue directly with Clinton in a recent hearing (seen on C-Span) and as reported here, might be the only elected politician paying attention:

Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, ranking Republican on the committee, said many of the administration’s priorities are questionable.

“Another item of grave concern is the administration’s plan to provide more than $900 million in aid for West Bank and Gaza,” she said. “In Gaza, this is tantamount to bailout for Hamas.”

Fatah these days is closely cooperating with Israel. Anyway Israelis would go crazy over this If that was against their interests. I wouldn't be surprised If the whole thing was done on their request as there obviously would be huge problems on both sides If the wanted to do that by themselves.

Some posts in this thread make me think that American jokes could be true...

Obama’s past tells us who he is and what his plans are.

http://www.campus-watch.org/article/id/4829

“I remember personally introducing [Obama] onstage in 1999, when we had a major community fundraiser for the community center in Deheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. And that’s just one example of how Barack Obama used to be very comfortable speaking up for and being associated with Palestinian rights and opposing the Israeli occupation,” Abunimah said.

Abunimah also was recently quoted saying that until a few years ago, Obama was “quite frank that the U.S. needed to be more evenhanded, that it leaned too much toward Israel.”

Abunimah noted Obama’s unusual stance toward Israel, commenting “these were the kind of statements I’d never heard from a U.S. politician who seemed like he was going somewhere, rather than at the end of his career.”

‘Critical of U.S. bias toward Israel’

Abunimah previously described meeting with Obama at a fundraiser at the home of Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, reportedly a former PLO activist.

“[Obama]came with his wife. That’s where I had a chance to really talk to him,” Abunimah recalled. “It was an intimate setting. He convinced me he was very aware of the issues [and] critical of U.S. bias toward Israel and lack of sensitivity to Arabs. ... He was very supportive of U.S. pressure on Israel.

According to quotes obtained by Gulf News, Abunimah recalled a 2004 meeting in a Chicago neighborhood while Obama was running for his Senate seat. Abunimah quoted Obama telling him “warmly” he was sorry that “I haven’t said more about Palestine right now, but we are in a tough primary race.”

“I’m hoping when things calm down, I can be more up front,” Abunimah reportedly quoted the senator as saying.

Abunimah said Obama urged him to “keep up the good work” at the Chicago Tribune, where Abunimah contributed guest columns that were highly critical of Israel.

WND reported yesterday the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit on which Obama served as a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist, provided $75,000 in grants to the AAAN.

The co-founder of AAAN is Columbia’s Khalidi, who held a 2000 fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi, a harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the PLO while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.
‘Very active’ terror apparatus

Obama’s 1999 fundraising for the Palestinian Deheisha camp raised the eyebrows of one senior Israeli security official who was contacted yesterday for comment on the issue. The official, who was not aware of Obama’s fundraising, noted Deheisha, which is located near the city of Bethlehem, had a “very active” Palestinian terror apparatus in 1999, carrying out scores of deadly shootings against Israeli civilians that year.

Bookmarked to read later..
We are seeing the tip of an ugly iceberg. I wonder when Glenn Beck will start talking about all of this in addition to the light he sheds on the others in this nightmare of an administration.

“What bothers me is Obama’s desire to fund Abbas when there is suspicion it funds Hamas.”

Abbas’ Fatah (secular) is the mortal enemy of Hamas (Islamist), so only by infiltration of Fatah could Hamas gain access to training, equipment and funds provided to Fatah by the US.

Yes, Abbas’ refusal to admit in public Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state is a block to sincere negotiation.

But Abbas would be assassinated if he were to make such an admission without adequately trained and numerous police forces to prevent it (prevent Hamas backed insurrection), which is what Dayton's training is supposed to provide.

Obama’s foolish emboldening of Pan-Arab intransigence by promising to “force” Israel to abandon settlements without security quarantees has thrown out the deal that Bush/Condi had worked out 98% with Olmert and Abbas.

That deal was put on hold late last year pending the US and Israeli elections. Obama’s election emboldened (hardened) the Arab/Abbas side of the deal and Netanyahu's election emboldened (hardened) the Israeli side of the deal.

Obama thought he could enlist Arab support to put harder sanctions on Iran if he could strong-arm Israel into surrendering the West Bank and East Jerusalem, but that is out the window. Al Qaeda is not a big player in Gaza or the West Bank. Abbas is backed by the Arabs funded by the Saudis and Hamas is backed by Syria funded by Iran. Abbas is a secular nationalist interested only in the Temple Mount in East Jerusalem while Al Qaeda wants not just Jerusalem and the rest of Israel, but to throw the Saudi Royals out of Mecca and Medina as well.
