A man has been charged with killing a cab driver in Apple Valley in August, according to the Dakota County First Judicial District Court.
Court documents allege that 18-year-old Abdirahman Abdiwahab Abdikarim of Apple Valley killed 41-year-old Michael Allen Palm, a Suburban Taxi driver, during the course of a robbery.
Palm, who also went by "Cabbie Mike," was found dead the afternoon of Aug. 1, 2009 in his cab in the parking lot of the Commons II building on the 15000 block of Glazier Avenue. Witnesses said the van had been parked there with the driver's door open since at least 8:30 that morning.
Officers found stab wounds on Palm's forehead, face, neck, arms and one hand, as well as a nearby screwdriver covered in blood. Palm's cell phone was not found at the scene and had apparently been stolen.
Investigators used phone records of calls made using the phone after the crime to help them track down Abdikarim.
Police questioned one of the people called from the phone, who told investigators Abdikarim and some people he was with had brought it to the Karmel Mall in Minneapolis to ask him how much they could sell it for. The witness claimed Abdikarim had sold other stolen items at the mall that day.
Police spoke to another young man, 16, who said Abdikarim told him, "What I did, you do life for it, man, I can't tell you," adding that "I beat the guy up so bad, man, he fainted," and "I got some killer hands, man, my fist."
Investigators with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension found DNA evidence on the screwdriver matching Abdikarim and Palm, as well as a number of finger and palm prints in and on van. A palm print matched Abdikarim, according to court documents.
If convicted, Abdikarim could face life in prison.
Comments redacted.....
Scum. Sooner or later, and I hope sooner, there’s gonna be major blowback over this cr@p! I usually make a joke about “Hey, Abdiwahab is my middle name” but this a-hole deserves the death penalty. Now!
Do you listen to 960?
Not familiar......
Talk radio station A960AM ? I listen to it on the I-net.
Once again, US immigration policy results in a dead American citizen. This puke should not have been in our country. He should have been in Somalia killing his fellow Muslims.
If you’re talking about KLTF out of Little Falls...The only way I could listen would be on the web.....
Let me guess?
Another U.S. Government approved criminal immigrant?
And this is so close to home. My Mom and sister both live in Apple Valley...
The suburbs south of the Minnesota River are quickly turning to crap.
The local Catholics and Lutherans were the big sponsors when the Somali wave landed here.....
Where I live, the immigrants are Hispanic. Not that it’s much comfort, but at least their religion isn’t telling them to kill people.
Well, the northern 'burbs aren't far behind...
Man Charged In Apple Valley Cab Driver Murder (MN Somali perp)
The irony of it. A Somalian bringing down a cab driver.
Few cabbies are left in MPLS that aren't Somalian.
Try Post Road and HWY 5 at the airport...
AV also has a large hispanic population. Their trailer park is about 2 miles from Mom’s house.....
Mike wasn’t just a ‘cabbie’...He was a great, salt of the earth human being. Not to be confused with the terrorists on wheels at MSP.
The way things are going ‘round here, I’ve started carrying a BUG.
“I got some killer hands, man, my fist.”
I got some .45ACP Golden Sabers that will ruin your afternoon.
Man, I've been in OK for a few months and I'm starting to feel comfortable without even one....
Not a bad idea though if you can carry it comfortably.
Have you moved?
As you know, it’s winter in MN and the ability to carry and hide comfortably expands with the amount of clothing one wears.....
Is it becoming easier to acquire up there?
It's available here in OK and the price is down slightly even.
