She looks like a million other women from that time period; not necessarily attractive but not repulsive either. Extremely ugly? Seems a bit harsh to me... Gotta love the net though, bantering over the looks of a dead person. ;o)

I guess I'm going to have to read some of her works, what with the divergent views of her in this 30 some post thread, ranging from accolades to seething contempt. I'm (now) intrigued enough to obtain her signature novel.
