U.S. envoy Bosworth arrives in Pyongyang: N. Korean media

SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Yonhap) -- A U.S. envoy on North Korea arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday, the North's media said, in the highest-level visit to the communist nation since the Barack Obama administration took power in Washington early this year.

Stephen Bosworth and his entourage "arrived in Sunan Airport" just outside the capital, the Korean Central News Agency said. Bosworth departed from the U.S. Osan air base in South Korea at around 2 p.m. on a three-day mission to bring the North back to a multilateral forum on its nuclear program

THE TALKS FAILED! IT'S OVER.

AND GOOD.

They ought to get the hell out of there now and go back to South Korea..why waste another day or two up there, unless Son Kim is just dying to go to Mangyongdae Fun Fair People's Amusement Park to ride the bumper cars?

Seriously, I am of the right mind to find an ombudsman at the State Department, and get those Obama State Dept. diplomats to reimburse back to the US Treasury the ENTIRE cost of their transportation, translation, food and accomodations since they embarked on this kowtowing farce Sunday in the US. Seriously. Who is willing go to the link, above, with me, and report this as one big waste of American taxpayers' money??

They had food? Warm rooms? Did they smile and joke in the presence of the poor miserable North Korean slaves forced to wait on them and pretend DPRK life is wonderful? Do they realize if those slaves saw one thing they werent supposed to, reacted in one moment in a way considered “suspicious”, the US “entourage” presence conferred a death sentence on that slave and perhaps his family and associates.

Life is cheaper in North Korea than any other nation on this earth, imho.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

And has no clue why it's failing. They keep saying themselves that they did not try harder enough.

My goodness, you sound like you are in downtown Pyongyang reporting to us by live remote, such is the clarity and truth of your observations of that hellhole up there.

Do we have to embarrass ourselves by sending envoys to talk to this pathological regime?

At any rate, TLR and All, Japanese press tonight (Mainichi, Yomiuri, etc) said that they basically just presented their prospective, differing positions without further comment or respective reply, and left it at that. That there is nothing left to talk about. Nothing is even sure if they will talk tomorrow and the next day.

The DPRK wants bilaterals with the US, one on one, obviously they want all the cash and rice and stuff that Uncle Sugar will usually give, and of course a Peace Treaty, and removal of US troops from the South (I am sure General MacArthur sleeps reallllly well in his grave over that one) /sarc. Uncle Sugar (Uncle Sap?) on the other hand says (probably) "OK, OK, you can have all those in due time--just work with us here, will you?-- it has to be through our clever appeasement process known as the Six Party talks, essentially a charade, but we won't talk to you one-one-one, but will only kowtow and appease as part of a six member group in Beijing, just like last time. OK? OK? Pretty please? (now, bring on the Taedonggang Beer and kimpmujo girls....)"

Some folks in D.C. made a career out of this sorry escapade.

The most egregious example is Selig Harrison, a fellow at some liberal think tank, presumable N. Korea expert. Sometimes I wonder which side he is working for him These days, even libs found him too discredited to deal with.

I hope Chia Head give one last giant middle finger before he kicks the bucket, and give us a good reason to literally purge sorry imbeciles in D.C. foreign policy circle. As well as lousy pinkos and reds in S. Korea. They should be made to be like Nazi collaborators after WWII.

That is why it is extremely important to secure certain facilities and certain archives in Pyongyang once the city falls to Freedom Fighters in 2013 or 2014 due to the resolve of President Palin what with the valiant North Korean people who will have been assisted, so that the internal Korean Workers Party evidence showing just how specifically they manipulated and used and hooodwinked, and maybe even paid off in some situations, American visitors like the Grahams or Roger Clinton or the New York Philharmonic, and or top diplomats from our side to Pyongyang who were useful, naive idiots all that time. All the names and incidents will be there for the whole world to see. To have these docs released the same time the North Korean concentration camps are opened and film crews grow in, will be a real shocker to Americans and worlwide. (Accordingly) these are DPRK internal state documents we do NOT want Sandy Berger shoving down his trousers, spiriting out and destroying because of embarrassment and out of loyalty to protect the legacy of Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright.

See, this is why I hate China meddling in. They would make sure those documents would see the light of the day. They hog them all for themselves, use them for their own blackmail scheme. A really good way to recruit unwilling individual they targeted.

Yeah, it will be a realll Steve doozy allright.

Well, now they are talking about this US delegation going BACK again at another time for further talks to try to narrow the Norks down on whether they will come back to so-called Six Party sham talks. Imagine the JET FUEL being wasted and carbon footprint being destroyed and polar bears dying because of these State Department comedic jaunts.

What a waste of time built on a faulty premise.

That you can get the North Koreans to sign ANY document and they will then adhere to it. How many hundreds upon hundreds of documents and agreements on joint management of the border (DMZ) over the years have they affixed signatures to and then disregarded their own ink?

This is the problem with the State Department. They are heavily lawyered-up, arrogant, Ivy League therefore sharp in theory devoid of praxis *street smarts* in many cases, and are so close to the text, wordsmithing and such, so totally "process oriented" that they miss the big DAMN picture; a) North Korea is doing this to buy time to build up nuke facilities; and b) whatever is agreed to will only be adhered to when Kim Jong il is dead, the Communist leadership has fled or been imprisoned, and the North Korea republic is a trustworthy nation. Only until then, any such negotiation in a true sense with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is bound for failure. Two words you will never hear out of Obama's mouth (except maybe for Honduras and Uganda because of their conservative bent), is "regime change". And OH how our worldwide enemies know this and just now we are seeing across the board unprecedented intransigence from all quarters because of this weakness.
