Climategate controversy has echoes of Watergate, UN says

UN officials likened the Climategate controversy to Watergate today, claiming that computer hackers who stole thousands of e-mails sent by a senior climate scientist were probably paid to do it by people intent on undermining the Copenhagen summit.

Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, vice-chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said the theft from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was not the work of amateur climate sceptics but a sophisticated and well-funded attempt to destroy public confidence in the science of man-made climate change.

He said the fact that the e-mails were first uploaded to a sceptic website from a computer in Russia was an indication that the culprit was paid.

"It's very common for hackers in Russia to be paid for their services.

"If you look at that mass of e-mails a lot of work was done, not only to download the data but it's a carefully made selection of e-mails and documents that's not random at all. This is 13 years of data and it's not a job of amateurs."

Mr van Ypersele said that publication of the e-mails had undermined efforts by the IPCC to convince the 192 countries at Copenhagen that they needed to act fast on emissions.

"One effect of this is to make scientists lose lots of time checking things.

"We are spending a lot of useless time discussing this rather than spending time preparing information for the negotiators."

He rejected claims by sceptics that the e-mails showed efforts had been made to manipulate the data to exaggerate the warming trend.

"It doesn't change anything in the IPCC's conclusions. It's only one line of evidence out of dozens of lines of evidence."

Achim Steiner, director of the UN Environment Programme...

Funny how one of the guilty parties wants to insert themselves in as an investigator.

The UN sees their new big money scam rapidly going in the toilet. I can understand their anger at the people who EXPOSED their scam and hoax. LOL!!! First their “food for oil” moneymaker fell on its ass and now this. The U.N. is a bunch of losers.

"a sophisticated and well-funded attempt to destroy public confidence in the science of man-made climate change. "

A FRAUD exposed by liberation of the Public's data from repeated Torture by an information Freedom Fighter is still a FRAUD.

Let’s see...

Should I be mad at hackers, paid or not, that exposed an international deception.

or

The “scientists” that were using that deception to usurp my freedoms, money, and nation’s sovereignty to the tune of TRILLIONS of increasingly worthless dollars?

Decisions, decisions...

I can't believe it. No one has blamed Ronald Reagan or George Bush for this yet.

I does crack me up that the IPCC tried to do the same thing that congress did by rushing through bills without anyone having time to read them!.

Sort of like a bank robber complaining because the bank teller kept his demand note.

sung to the tune of “Home On The Range”

Oh, give me a home where the wind turbines roam
Where the queers and the unicorns play
Where solar does work with encouraging words
And the skies are so sunny all day
Hope, hope and some change
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a disparaging word
And the rigs they are idle all day

How often at night when the money’s so tight
From the light of the glittering stars
Have I stood there and froze and asked as my toes
Are as frozen at ten icy bars

Hope, hope and some change
Where the scientists cheat on the stats
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
Cause Al Gore he did make sure of that

Then give me a land where the EPA can hand
Carbon tickets to tax like a dream
Where the grateful sheep pawns go sickly along
Like a chump in a political dream

Oh I would not exchange that sick hope and the change
Where the heat and the AC did flow
Where my engine was heard like a powerful word
And the skies used to change every day

Since no one knows who leaked/stole the documentation this is nothing more than a paranoid conspiracy theory.

Oh sure...like the corrupt IDIOTS didn't know.

How about; It's similar to the OIL FOR FOOD scam, or the UN Rape-keepers scandal...only much bigger.

Watergate is small potatoes compared to this.

Watergate was one man’s paranoia that got out of hand.

Climategate is a conspiracy of global proportions which involves once trusted scientists, politicians, agencies, institutions and individuals. It has besmirched such luminaries as NASA, The Nobel Peace Prize, National Geographic, Environmental Science as a whole, and anybody who even sincerely cares about the environment.

It has cost taxpayers billions, and probably helped destroy our economy, and I wouldn’t doubt it if it contributed to the Lyin’ King’s election as well.

Watergate’s tentacles never reached that far.

Which is the bigger crime: the whistleblowing that prevents a bank robbery, or allowing for the actual bank robbery to take place where many people could be killed/injured and a lot of money stolen?

With the fraudulent climate change "science" the proponents and supporters of the science were hoping to effectuate the transfer of trillions of dollars from the "haves" to the "have not" nations. The whistelblowing prevented the biggest crime in the history of mankind to take place, at least for now.
