Crashing a state dinner at the White House apparently takes a security breakdown as well as some kind of nerve.
But the stars were aligned for Tareq and Michaele Salahi on Tuesday night.
White House staff were left red-faced after the aspiring reality TV couple caused a security scare by gatecrashing an Obama-hosted dinner.
The Salahis mingled in the same room as President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and guest of honour Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh - despite not being on the guest list.
They even posed for pictures with Vice President Joe Biden, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and U.S. news presenter Katie Couric.
It is not known if they encountered the Obamas themselves.
The couple was only discovered after posting pictures on Facebook.
They captioned them, writing: 'Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!'
The couple did not manage to be seated at a table in the South Lawn tent where the dinner was held, however.

I doubt that they “slipped in” past the Secret Service. Somebody higher up no doubt gave verbal permission for them to enter. I read that they’re big contributors to “Palestinian” causes; Tareq’s father was born in Israel, presumably of Arab descent. I wonder if they are friends of Rahm Emmanuel?
“appear to have broken thru security”, would that be the front gate, the door, the invite inspector, the x ray macines, the body checks, the secondary checks or the secret service.

well not exactly, i have a lot of respect for the secret servive and the FBI, but if this is what it is, then someone screwed up majorly. Lighten up a bit.
What damage, the only ones embarassed are the Secret Service.
Gone are stories about the excess of the event, Obama’s need to be the biggest firstest. And it has crowded out any serios talk about US relations with India and who knows what other news...
I may be giving them too much credit, but If I were a Whitehouse reporter I would have worked late Wednesday to see what late annoucements were slipped out by the press office.
I don’t care who is president, the people in charge of security are the people in charge of security. In my country that is not the presidents job.
We all know who is in charge of WH security, it all comes down to Rahm, he’s the one with the power there.

An investigation is necessary. This is a serious breach of security. That said, there are a number of questions that need to be answered before we can affix blame. Possibly, a member of the President's staff could have overridden the security measures in place when notified that the couple were not on the list.

Emmanuels’ family roots are in Palestine (since early 1900’s)
Maybe “Tareq’s” family were friends of the Auerbachs (orm of Rahms momma’s familiy) back in the days when Rahm’s poppa Benyamin and earlier ancestors were “simple soldiers” in Irgun or other “freedom fighters”.
