Live Thread: Senate Debate and Cloture Vote on Motion to Proceed to Debate ObamaCare
Saturday, November 21, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 11/21/2009 9:43:50 AM PST by kristinn

C-SPAN 2 is carrying the Senate floor debate live this afternoon.

The Democrats control the floor right now. Earlier, Republican Senators Judd Gregg, Kit Bond, Jeff Sessions and David Vitter gave good speeches and dialogues on the budget-busting effects of ObamaCare.

Maria Cantwell is speaking now. Mary Landrieu is excpected to speak shortly.

The cloture vote is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST tonight.

It ‘s already done. One way or another it will pass. It will do so because we no longer have a representative government. The left has very successfully taken over the government of the United States . We sat here and chatted while they pulled off a government takeover without firing a shot.
I doubt most Americans are even aware that their country has been overthrown. All this voting business is for show my friends. It’s in the bag already . So is Immigration and Cap and Trade and the Fairness Doctrine. It’s already being implemented. Wake the hell up folks!you have self admitted Communist and radicals running the country. It’s not even a secret anymore.
It all a show for the TV dopes that still watch the MSM ..

"...if he (Lieberman) votes YES today .......they only need 50 votes plus Biden to pass this bill when it comes up for the final vote."

But won't they have to have a cloture vote to end debate???? That will require 60 votes.

If it’s INSURANCE reform, how come Democrats keep comparing it to Social Security?

Sorry, but no. Freedom is such a thing that it can never die. There may be troubled times, and maybe for a long while, but eventually the winter passes. You have to hold onto that, because the more people believe they can and should be free, the more likely they are to do what it takes to keep that freedom. Giving in now is letting the left’s psych-ops team win. I tell you truthfully, those intentionally spreading despair among conservatives now are a greater enemy to the future of freedom than anyone in Congress. This republic is all about us staying in the game. So ease up on the depressants. They aren’t good for you, or us.

They don’t give a rats ass about health care . I’st ONLY about control and power. And former KGB or Soviet Politician could have told you move by move what was going to happen here. It’s classic textbook Marxist takeover tactics. It took the bastards 25 years or so but they pulled it off.
It started in the 60s in the media and in the schools .
If there anyone here who seriously believes that this country HAS NOT been taken over or believes we still have a representative government ?

I wouldn’t be surprised if after getting the 60 votes tonight, the Dems will turn right around and take a vote to end the debate they just voted for, LOL. Then they could pass the bill with 51 and go on Holiday!

Nothing these politicians do surprises me anymore.

McConnell and Kyl have already reported to the media that no Republican senator will vote AYE tonight - a solid block of 40 votes.

Too bad we needed one more vote - like Coleman’s or Steven’s etc.

We have been over and over and over this for a week — all 40 Republicans are voting NO tonight.

Why are we going through this circle over and over and over again - can anyone on FR read?

So, we were supposed to have stopped this with armed resistance?

With the exception of 2 or 3 I wouldn’t give you 5 cents for those 40 Republicans. Castrated thieves and slime balls the lot of them . Bought cheap and in the game for self interest only.Cowards if there ever were a group of cowards.

It will not ultimately pass. This is representative government at work... the world’s greatest deliberative body.

Be grateful for one thing: were it not for the continuing rotten economy, this health care monstrosity would have been law by last August.

I am right. Procedural votes are often party line votes in any case. Politically, this is going to prove to be a disastrous night for Senate Democrats in the 2010 elections. It may save them some energy on the left and some campaign funds, but independents will recoil.

I’m just facing reality! This is about power and the Dems know once they pass this they will be in power a long time. Ive already seen the Dems steal the elections in close races so if it is close the dems win. especially if they get a recount! Colman Minnesota, Gorton Washington, Rossi Washington! It is getting worse not better!

No , I said LEGAL means . Not violence. I never said that . But I think MILLIONS in silent stern protest over many days might have sent a message they would NOT laugh at .The MAJORITY of Americans are not in favor of any health care (socialized medicine ) reform. I’m stating that if we actually DID SOMETHING with the massive numbers we have we may make daily headlines and have those on the edge fearing they would NEVER be re elected again .
I am in no way condoning violence or an overthrow of the government. I am only imagining what we could do with the numbers we have ..if we only organized and had leadership.

None the less they will get socialized medicine passed and that is the GRAND TOOL for generations of loyal voters and endless power.

Maybe it's YOU who isn't grasping what is happening.

I'm aware of the "process" you are describing. I'm also aware that when this POS bill passes tonight, we are one step closer to the final passing of this Disastrous health care reform bill.

You want us to believe the bill will be so muddled down in the quagmire that passing it will be met with one long delay after another? LOL. Obama and his ilk are desperate to ram SOMETHING thru and this is IT!

Although I can appreciate your response, your well thought out words are misplaced when we are dealing with this Administration. Furthermore, the changes will take place wrt health care in the anticipation this Bill WILL go forward in some shape or form. There is no normal anymore.
