C-SPAN 2 is carrying the Senate floor debate live this afternoon.

The Democrats control the floor right now. Earlier, Republican Senators Judd Gregg, Kit Bond, Jeff Sessions and David Vitter gave good speeches and dialogues on the budget-busting effects of ObamaCare.

Maria Cantwell is speaking now. Mary Landrieu is excpected to speak shortly.

The cloture vote is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST tonight.

Easy. They see this as a way of expanding Government into every crevice of your life, and so when you are dependent on Government for your very LIFE, you dare not vote against the RAT party. Why do you think Carville wrote a book about DEM control over Government for the next 40 years?

To bring it for debate, they must have 60 votes. After debate, they vote up or down, in which case only 51 votes are needed.

So, virtually, a vote to bring it to the floor for debate is a vote FOR the bill, as 97% of legislation brought to debate by cloture (60 votes) is passed.

The ones like Landrieu and Lincoln will propose amendments which will probably be voted down, and then they feel they have cover because they only voted for DEBATE.They may even vote against the final bill but since only 51 votes are needed then, they will get their cover while toeing the Dem party line. Everyone KNOWS 60 votes for debate virtually assures passage.

The real payoff is votes, which equals political power. The Democrats are simply trying to transfer wealth form likely Republican voters to likely Democratic voters in order to buy votes. That is the endgame. All this socialism has nothing to do with good healthcare or the distribution of good healthcare. It’s vote buying, pure and simple. No other theory explains what is happening.

I am wondering if the Repubs hold together and Lieberman. Mitch McConnell supposedly knows Senate procedure and rules as well as Byrd. I hope the GOP has some tricks in their bag to stop this.

The real payoff for the Dems is overwhelming power and they know if this passes they have it. This is NOT about health care, the Dems can give a rats behind about health care, his is about FULL GOVERNMENT CONTROL and if this passes they have it. "Healthcare" is certainly a ruse for massively funding SEIU, but in reality, what is "healthcare"?

"Healthcare" is neither a right, nor a privilege. It is a commodity. It is a business. It has costs, and hopes to make a profit, by design. The idea that insurance = healthcare is the way they have framed their arguments. Insurance is a contract for services.

The idea that you can pay for unlimited services with finite dollars is a dream. Insurance companies use actuarial tables to determine projected costs. They use actual costs based on annual payouts on policies to set the next years charges. If all of the people in the group get sick, the system cannot pay for them all. It collapses into bankruptcy.

Insurance is a unique product. In Florida, it pays to replace beach houses. In Louisiana, it pays for underwater homes. But, usually that "insurance" comes from the public trough. We all know who that "public" is...
