Barack Obama's speech commemorating Veterans Day at Arlinton Cemetery this morning was received with stony silence by those in attendance.
What should have been applause lines for Obama about caring for our veterans drew no cheers, no clapping and no 'hooahs'.
There was no Prince-concert-squealing for Obama like there was yesterday at the Fort Hood memorial service. In fact there was no cheering at all for the commander-in-chief in a time of war. Just polite, subdued applause when Obama was introduced and when he conluded his speech.
In contrast, a randomly selected Veterans Day speech by President George W. Bush shows numerous interruptions for applause.
A transcript of Bush's 2004 speech includes notations of eight interruptions for applause before the final notation of applause at the conclusion of his speech.

Can this link be posted with this article? This shows the complete *lack* of response from the audience. I’ve never seen anything like it.
What the....??
I get the feeling that the troops in Afghanistan must be feeling like the “bastards of Bataan” did, only worse. Morale must be at rock-bottom there, and if it’s not, it’s not for lack of Hussein trying.
She looks exactly like a fey queer man there.
Obviously all the participants were racists.

Even a dog can smell evil.

You are so correct, however its so easy to see that this president has no emotion for anything he doesn’t agree with.
Mr. Bush made huge mistakes on the domestic scene, but no one doubts his love for this Country. While Obama was busy twisting congressional arms saturday, George and Laura quietly visited the wounded troops.
Odd, someone, somewhere should give him the ‘clap’.
Prayers up, for all our BRAVE men & women in harm's way. Which unfortunately, is now also right here at home.
Oopps, that was Arlington in March.
I think that the very Presidents who most hate the military, like Hussein (and the feeling is reciprocated), are the very ones who most use military protocol against the troops. They can’t command the love and respect of the troops naturally, so they put the screws to them the hardest. They have to.
Thank God during Vietnam there was no satellite tv, radio, and the news was filtered through the Stars and Stripes. These kids get to see Crissy and Company on the internet.
My heart breaks for these brave warriors.
Kristinn, we were told not long ago in a news report that the brass was bringing in soldier Obama’s supporters to his events to make him look better. They could not have the CIC met with stoney silence as had been happening his first few months in office. They import a cheering section now.
Thank you for posting this. Glad to see this. I thought the applause during the Ft Hood service was also somewhat subdued except for some of the democrats in attendance. I kept watching the TV to see if any of the soldiers would turn their backs to the CIC.
No, I meant, what the hell is she wearing! And who the hell is dressing here?? And how much, in gawd’s name, are they PAYING that person with our tax dollars. She has the poorest taste in clothes I have ever seen! Jackie-O...yeah, right.
Why are the others saluting and one guy with his hand over his heart while bambi just stands there?
There he is with his hands on his crotch again while the rest are saluting or have the hand over the heart.
Although bad, this outift is not from today. I've seen searching for a photo of her "radial tire" belt over the light blue coat worn today. It was not flattering to her in the least. Doesn't she own a proper suit????
