Barack Obama's speech commemorating Veterans Day at Arlinton Cemetery this morning was received with stony silence by those in attendance.
What should have been applause lines for Obama about caring for our veterans drew no cheers, no clapping and no 'hooahs'.
There was no Prince-concert-squealing for Obama like there was yesterday at the Fort Hood memorial service. In fact there was no cheering at all for the commander-in-chief in a time of war. Just polite, subdued applause when Obama was introduced and when he conluded his speech.
In contrast, a randomly selected Veterans Day speech by President George W. Bush shows numerous interruptions for applause.
A transcript of Bush's 2004 speech includes notations of eight interruptions for applause before the final notation of applause at the conclusion of his speech.

Can this link be posted with this article? This shows the complete *lack* of response from the audience. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Really? I didn't follow yesterday's events there. Did he turn it into a political rally?
yes it is possible
according to people at the memorial yesterday the squealers were civilian workers at the back.
some suggested they were squealing for their share of obama stash
Agreed. All this running around apologizing for America must be getting to him. He’s losing sleep & slipping up, I would guess.
My family and I thank you for your service.
I think today’s audience understood that Dear Leader was simply reading a speech someone else wrote to appeal to patriots. His real attitude toward military vets and personnel was exposed on the day of the shooting when he horsed around for 2 minutes at a Native American event before acknowledging the tragedy. POS.
I wouldn’t shout at him, I would just sit there in silence and immediately get up and walk away when he’s done speaking.
Sounds like what most of the audience did.
Much more effective than what I hoped for.
Pray for our men and women in the military...for perhaps the first time in their careers, their confidence has been shaken. This poser-in-chief clearly does not have their back. They are losing or have lost confidence in his ability to lead and he is losing their trust.
I would not have waited until he was done. I would have walked out right in the middle of it.
“i had said for years that the enemies of this country would defeat it from within....many people over those years told me i was crazy and that it would never happen...”
You and Lincoln. Many Americans are so detached from their own history that they don’t even understand what they are giving up.
“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step over the ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! — All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the
Blue Ridge, in a trial of a Thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
— Abraham Lincoln
From day one I have noticed the difference in the response of our military to the two presidents. It is obvious from videos that President Bush was beloved by the military, and the Lyin’ King is LOATHED. (Whatever one’s politics may be, but you KNOW mine! LOL!)
Even a dog can smell evil.
Maybe there was silence because everyone had already heard this speech yesterday. His speech-writers just changed a few words and put it back in the prompter.
There should be no applause whatsoever at a memorial service.
God Bless our troops & God Bless America!
"Do it for Welstone! Do it for Paul!"
And I’m not a bit surprised, the rats were that crass even before Hussein, the most crass of them all, came upon the scene. Remember Wellstone’s “memorial”, which was turned into a hate-filled political rally?
Thanks...but it was a pleasure to serve. Pray for those kids out there, because they are up against it.
