True, Bill Handel out here in LA (get podcast) just went through a 30 minute diatribe on why the president cannot say anything for or against him due to a defense law of how his comments might influence the jury.
He noted most will not like the speech due to the limitations on the president.
He did not mention what would happen being supportive of the killer.

If it is comprehension O is after and he does not want to listen to Americans who understand what "drove" Hasan to commit these murders. Surely he can find terrorists victims or relatives of victims is Mumbai, India or Islamabad, Pakistan who will explain this two him. If he wants, he can go to the source and read the writings of innumerable angry Islamists who are very clear about their motives and intent.
