Sweeping Health Care Plan Passes House

WASHINGTON Handing President Obama a hard-fought victory, the House narrowly approved a sweeping overhaul of the nations health care system on Saturday, advancing legislation that the Democrats said could be their defining social policy achievement.
After a daylong clash with Republicans over what has been a Democratic goal for decades, lawmakers voted 220 to 215 to approve a plan that would cost $1.1 trillion over 10 years and that Democrats said would provide relief to Americans struggling to buy or hold on to health insurance.
This is our moment to revolutionize health care in this country, said Representative George Miller, Democrat of California and one of the chief architects of the bill.
Democrats were forced to make major concessions on insurance coverage for abortions to attract the final votes to secure passage, a wrenching compromise for the numerous abortion-rights advocates in their ranks.
They hope to make changes to that amendment during negotiations with the Senate, which will now become the main battleground in the health care fight as Democrats there ready their own bill for what is likely to be extensive floor debate.
Democrats say the measure paid for through new fees and taxes, along with cuts in Medicare would extend coverage to 36 million people now without insurance and would create a government health insurance program. It would end insurance company practices like not covering pre-existing conditions or dropping people when they become ill.

More people read Glenn Beck’s newsletter than the New York Times. Pick a more reputable and well read source.
Pelosi says “Oh, What A Night” in post-conference. 0 calls to congratulate
NYT? Odd that Drudge isn’t reporting this yet.
(Rhetorical vehemence. Nothing personal.)
The US Congress has just officially declared war upon the American people. Behold the enemies within.
“Americans” just mugged and raped their grandchildren and their grandchildren. This country needs to be ashamed of itself. But hey! It was “historical!” We’re really into making “history” these days no matter how moronic it is.
I have been thinking about what the Democrats did tonight. I have never been so mad in all my life for them passing this but I am actually glad they did pass this HC legislation. Let me explain. The American electorate has been in a drunken stupor for so long. We have what we have in office because nobody is feeling any discomfort.
After the American people see what was passed and what it will do for their quality of life, it will finally get people to act because they will see their quality of life plummet. The Democrats have no idea what hit them last Tuesday and they will have no idea what will hit them in November of 2010. This is their attack on Pearl Harbor and you know what happened to Japan after this act.
They are so arrogant and blind that they think this is a victory for the left and their power. This vote was the beginning of the end for the left and the Democrats. We need to continue to pray, fight and act. We will prevail. We will takeover again this govt for and by the people.
Wait unitl the Senate deals with this....they’ll put the abortion stuff back in, and take out the ‘public option’ requirement to negotiate with physicians.
This will KILL health care in the US.
Good, lets get this over with. I’m sick of these freaks running our country.
This may be one of the very first shots of the New Revolution. It is about time to bring the walls down. I will not live if not freely.
For the record, Pre-ex is illegal under any HMO health plan. In 23 years, I have never, ever seen an insurance company even come close to dropping a specific person for just for having medical claims, unless fraud is involved.
**Behold the enemies within.**
And unelect them!
Takers and thieves don’t care who they steal from. What we have is a Congress that is so focused on short term gains that they have destroyed the next generation. And they don’t care.
TOMORROW IS SUNDAY..EVERY CHURCH IN THE COUNTRY SHOULD BE EMPTY AND TAKE TO THE STREETS....I WILL NOT FUND ABORTION.hOW IS THIS HAPPENING
fascists.
The problem is that there is an asymmetry here - between passing legislation and repealing legislation. If you assume a massive shift in party control in the Congress (both houses as the result of the 2010 elections) but not enough to override Presidential vetoes, then repeal of this has to wait for Jan. 20, 2013.
And vice versa.
