WASHINGTON When it comes to combating global warming, Sen. Lindsey Graham is right where he loves to be ahead of the curve, in the mix on a major issue, at the table for high-level, bipartisan talks behind closed doors.
Graham, a South Carolina Republican, is working with Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut to craft a climate change bill.
They face the dual challenge of overcoming widespread GOP opposition and withstanding relentless attacks by Big Oil and allied energy interests.
"Our goal is to create a vision that not only will help this planet which I think is in peril but will create millions of new jobs for Americans who need them, and help us become energy independent to make us safer," Graham told a crowded Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday.

Graham added: "But I don't think it will cost me my job."
Graham is an arrogant son of a b-tch.
“...costs me my job...”
One can hope.
He’s got to go.
AWAY
Before conservatives deal with Democrats, they have to find a way to destroy this RINO.
That Lisa Murkowski made a comment that she would vote for cap & trade if govt allowed drilling all over America. People in Ak are pissed off ovre her remark. I imagine the same in S.C
The attempt to create a recall mechanism after the Mark Sanford scandal needs to continue and applied to Graham. He is far more worthy of a recall than even Sanford is.
Lindsey is a girl’s name.
That’s his problem..he doesn’t think...
Think again, dirtbag.
Graham is such an arrogant rube. Wake up Lindsay! The Dems will use you to pass their beloved “Cap and Tax,” then use the EPA, enviro-weenies, and liberal judges to strip the domestic drilling, clean coal and nuclear provisions. We will be left with the tax. On behalf of your SC constituency, we will work tirelessly to make sure that it costs you your job!
"If I can create legislation that would allow this country to stop buying so much foreign oil and make us safer plus find a solution to the carbon pollution hurting our planet that would be a good use of my time..."
Dim bulb or sell out. Carbon legislation does nothing to slow the import of foreign oil.
Wind farms and solar plants do exactly "nothing" to slow the importing of foreign oil.
If you want to make us energy independent, you'll open up the coastlines to drilling, now. You'll repeal the moratorium on oil shale like now. You'll encourage the building of coal-to-liquids plants "now".
Carbon credits will put the government in charge of every, and I mean every, area of life in America. Business life, presonal life, what you do in your home, what you do within your family. There will be nothing beyond the reach of carbon law because that is the way it is designed. It has nothing to do with energy independence and will never achieve it because the people who are proposing it are sold out to OPEC.
Get these people out of office or prepare to lose it all.
That's your problem, Lindsey..you don't think.
sw
Does South Carolina have a legit primary? Or is this like NY-23 where the GOP party bosses can select a RINO as the candidate?
I don’t think it will cost Lindsey his job either. The election is not until 2014, and SC people have short memories.
Recalls are not in the U.S. Constitution and not recognized by Congress of either house.
Lindsey Graham should man up, and grow a pair. He wants to be loved by the people who are in the process of losing this nation, and losing their own power. Get a brain Lindsey. There is no global warming beyond normal cycles, and the normal cycle for right now is cooling, not warming. Stop smooching with the liars. People will eventually figure out this scam, and rebel.
It's not your job most Americans are worried about. It's their jobs.
