All the excuses applied to this terrorist are intended to exonerate him or at least diminish the magnitude of this crime. Excuses such as harassment suffered years earlier are hollow, as he is a professional psychiatrist trained to deal with harassment. But worse yet, alluding that he might have suffered from post dramatic stress syndrome, when he never set foot overseas nor saw any combat, is laughable and utterly ridiculous.
However, turning him into some sort of victim will weaken the severity of his crime in the eyes of some people, and the atrocity will be seen more as the killings of a madman, rather than an act of a terrorist on his own personal jihad. Obama benefits tremendously from that revised narrative, since he doesn't have to deal with the responsibility of protecting Americans from terrorists.
Neither Obama nor the mainstream media want to take into consideration that right after 9/11, Hasan unsuccessfully tried to leave the military, and just 6 months ago he was posting comments online about suicide bombings, and uttering comments like 'Muslims should rise and fight (Americans).' Hasan is a terrorist sympathizer, and his views about America's involvement in the Middle East were well known to those who dealt with him in the armed forces.
This terrorist premeditated a rampage, and he chose Thursday for the big day, which according to military reports is the busiest day at Fort Hood's Soldier Readiness Center, due to deployment or soldiers coming back from the war. He chose this day to inflict the worst damage possible.
This was a premeditated terrorist attack on our soil, pure and simple. But if anyone has any hopes of seeing Obama deplore this terrorist act as such in the near future, I have a bridge to sell you.
