Hoffman was for Scozzafava before he was against her
Watertown Daily Times ^ | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2009 | JUDE SEYMOUR

Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.

The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."

This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

I’m sending him money. She’s nothing more than a flaming liberal democrat.

That's a DNC dirty trick.

That is nothing more than a courteous letter by a gracious opponent. To call that a "pledge" is nonsense. You might as well claim that by signing a letter "very truly yours" you have pledged yourself to marry the recipient.

You fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Doesn’t change the fact that Scozzofava is an Obama-loving Democrat parading around as a Republican.

Hoffman intends to lie his way to power.

What a pant load. This is just the typical congratulation note. This release is very desperate and juvenile.

No kidding, I’m sick of these lying liberals who call themselves republicans. The GOP is throwing every ACORN/Moveon tactic in the book at this one and they’ve become disgusting.

So let’s get this straight. I’ve seen you bashing Hoffman on a few threads now. Do you or do you not support the DIABLO Dede Scozzafava for the seat? If you do, please tell us conservatives how she is a better candidate than Hoffman.

“Despite having signed a pledge to support the eventual nominee to emerge from the process, Hoffman considered the possibility of asking for the Conservative Party’s endorsement to run against Scozzafavva, making it a three way race.”

She was the only one of 7 people considered who could not get the Conservative Party endorsement.

Hoffman was just being polite, something unknown among the left.

Hoffman intends to lie his way to power.

So Hoffman changes his mind about Scuzzy, yet you take a greater issue with that than Scuzzy's rampant liberalism and her sneakily paying an in-law with campaign funds?

Besides, later in the article Hoffman states he never promised to support Scozzafava, but he did say who he would support:

"I did indicate that I would be happy to support a conservative Republican candidate, especially if it wasn't me. ... It never occurred to me that the party would pick the only liberal in the race."

Hoffman, from where I stand, is off the hook. These hit piece no doubt comes from a Democrat playbook. It has all the usual characteristics of an off-the-record conversation or e-mail that supposedly took place. The Democrat has no need to attack the Republican candidate, they're agreeable on everything. This race is two Democrats against a Reagan Conservative.

Yeah, because no one in the history of politics has ever changed their mind about a candidate, or a position. How many times has your guy Newt lied?
