GIANT KICKOFF FOR TEA PARTY EXPRESS

IN SAN DIEGO & LOS ANGELES

THIS SUNDAY - OCTOBER 25TH

(SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) - The Tea Party Express II (www.TeaPartyExpress.org) launches this Sunday with a giant kickoff rally in San Diego and a subsequent rally later in the day in Los Angeles.

The Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day national tour will span 19 days, rallies in 38 cities, and cover more than 7,000 miles.  The tour marks the one-year point from the 2010 elections when numerous members of Congress will be targeted for defeat, as a result of their support of higher deficits, growth in the size and intrusiveness of government, higher taxes, bailouts and more.

Momentum for the Tea Party Express II launch has grown during the past week as word spreads like wildfire of a conservative groundswell too large to be ignored. “The tea party movement was written off earlier this year as a flash in the pan, but nothing could be further from the truth.  Americans are taking action to take their government back from the failed and corrupt politicians who are bankrupting our nation,” said Deborah Johns, Vice Chair of the Tea Party Express – and one of the featured speakers on the tour.

The Tea Party Express II will begin in San Diego, and is happy to announce that former Mayor Roger Hedgecock of AM 600 - KOGO, will serve as a featured keynote speaker at the rally.  Other featured speakers will include Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy, and Our Country Deserves Better Chairman Howard Kaloogian. Also returning on tour will be singer/songwriter Lloyd Marcus (who penned the “American Tea Party Anthem”), the television and Internet singing sensation, Rivoli Revue, and patriotic singer, Diana Nagy.

Events on Sunday, October 25th:

11:00am:         San Diego, CA

Tuna Harbor Park
Tuna Lane located off N Harbor Drive and W. G Street
San Diego, CA

4:30pm:           Los Angeles, CA

Griffith Park (Pad D – Crystal Springs Area)
4730 Crystal Springs Road
Los Angeles, CA 90027

The Tea Party Express II is a 19-day, 7,000-mile journey across the country with a caravan of vehicles holding tea party rallies in 38 cities across America.  The Tea Party Express is advocating for less government spending, an end to the bailouts, lower taxes, opposition to government-run healthcare and opposition to the growth in the size and intrusiveness of government in general.

Tea Party Protest Scheduled for Sunday at Griffith Park

Watch out, they're back. On Sunday the latest in Tea Party protests will hit Los Angeles as part of another bus tour across the country. The traveling two-plus week event, which will be in its first day, promises to "highlight some of the worst offenders in Congress who have voted for higher spending, higher taxes, and government intervention in the lives of American families and businesses," according to its website. Continued: "Let’s stand up and stop the bailouts, cap and trade, out-of-control spending, government-run healthcare, and higher taxes! We’re back and determined to take our country back!"

This is the second tour, aptly subheaded as the "Countdown to Judgment Day," which is in reference to the one-year countdown to the 2010 elections.

If you want to attend, counter protest, check out a goofy scene, take it seriously or whatever you want, it's in Griffith Park on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. And it doesn't look like organizers are expecting that big of crowd. The rally's specific location is on Pad D in the Crystal Springs Area.

I'm certainly supportive of this project, but I have to comment that the two signs those people are holding up are in conflict with each other. One says "Seniors, vote out Democrats in 2010 or they will deny us care", while the other says "Stop the march to socialism." Well it's precisely because seniors have become dependent on socialist programs like Medicare that the Democrats now have the power to deny care to seniors. If the seniors had been able to save more of their income during their working lives then they could afford their own health insurance and wouldn't be dependent on the government and vulnerable to budget cutbacks.

What the first sign should really say is: "Vote out Democrats in 2010 and cut taxes so we can afford our own health insurance plans." This is a major problem with Republican strategy now--it's declined into attacking the Democrats when they suggest cutting entitlement spending, when the GOP should be FOR cutting entitlement spending and taxes. We've lost the Kemp/Roth philosophy of lower taxes, lower spending, and limited government. GOP leaders needs to move away from the quick political win from supporting entitlement spending and get back to our basic philosophy of lower taxes and spending and a smaller, less intrusive, less costly federal government.

Yup.

Once you install an addictive program like Social Security, Aid to Students (whatever it’s called) Medicare - - - you can’t get rid of it. That’s why it’s imperative this Socialized Medicine movement be stopped dead in its tracks.

If it gets installed, it will paralyze this country. And you won’t get rid of it.

Good points

This is a major problem with Republican strategy now--it's declined into attacking the Democrats when they suggest cutting entitlement spending

Of course this isn't Republican strategy expressed in the signs at the 9-12 rally where those sign were seen, nor is it Rep strategy at and with the tea parties.

It's oridnaly citizens making signs from their hearts and coming out in millions to express what they feel are the issues to them.

Plus, that little blurb was posted by those opposed to the tea party effort so I'm surprised they didn't use signs that would make tea party goers look like kooks and nuts.

Thanks for your input!

Bumping: L.A. FReepers, are you going? On Rush’s show today I actually heard a Tea Party commercial, asking everyone to show in Griffith Park on Sunday.

Still no interest in this Tea Party in Griffith Park from FReepers? Are you kidding me? Are you all out signing your petitions to save Roman Polanski, and hoping for that public option for your health care?? Where are the SoCal FReepers on this??

They’ve been advertising on KFI all day today for this. They spent MONEY on those ads — let’s see a BIG turnout, one the media cannot (or should not?) ignore!!!!
