CAIR Calls Settlement of Six Imams 'Flying While Muslim' Case Victory for Justice Posted 10/20/2009 4:11:00 PM
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/20/09) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today hailed what it called a victory for justice and civil rights in the case of the six imams, or Islamic religious leaders, who said their rights were violated in 2006 when they were removed from a US Airways flight in Minnesota and arrested.
CAIR, the Washington-based civil rights organization that has championed the imams rights since they were removed from the plane, said the six religious leaders will receive an undisclosed amount in compensation for the incident and that the case was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

For background on the case, see: Flying While Muslim
The settlement of this case is a clear victory for justice and civil rights over fear and the phenomenon of 'flying while Muslim in the post-9/11 era, said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. We thank all those who supported the imams through the lengthy and difficult legal process.
In July, a judge in Minnesota sided with the imams on key issues in their lawsuit against those involved in their removal from the plane. U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery cleared the way for a trial by denying several motions to dismiss the case and ruling that a law passed by Congress after the incident does not grant protection from lawsuits to those sued by the imams.

Judge Montgomery also ruled that the actions of the imams prior to their flight did not justify their detention. She noted that the imams were subjected to "extreme fear and humiliation of being falsely identified as dangerous terrorists."

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
**removed from a US Airways flight in Minnesota and arrested.**
to the 6 TERRORIST MEMBERS OF THE MURDEROUS CULT OF ISLAM
you were ONLY arrested...
You are still alive, unfortunately...
you are still walking free, unfortunately...
you are still in the confines of the USA, unfortunately...
YOU ARE, however, playing games... OUR FIrst amendment says FREEDOM OF RELIGION, not FREEDOM FROM ALL OTHER RELIGIONS.
To the 6 pigloving, dogkissing fools.. you are stepping dangerously close to Interfering with MY RELIGIOUS RIGHTS...
IF YOU MURDEROUS ISLAMIC CULT MEMBERS want ANOTHER CRUSADE... keep sticking your nose where it does NOT BELONG@!!!
BTTT
Oh, that makes me feel sooo much better.
The almost laughable thing pointed out by the conservative web site, was that of the eight "terrorists" (actors re-enacting scenes), eight were "crew cut" white males. An African-American was thrown in for good measure.
Intimidation is the most powerful weapon against we ordinary peoples of North America, save actual terrorist acts themselves. It has reached into some of the judiciary. That goes for Canada as well. Still, the Toronto courts laid it to some of the would be terrorists recently, so it may not be all bad.
is that the AZ one? I haven’t finished viewing that one yet. I looked at the video they debuted in Denver at the Law Enforcement Convention. The video with John Elway. You’re right. No middle eastern. Last I remember, Islamofacists were at war with America, not the NRA.
Up to the right on that conservative website was a video titled 9/11. Scenes were shown with the most erie classical music accompaniment.
I have to confess I could not watch that through.
Never forget.
“So if I get on a plane, openly praise Osama bin Laden and get kicked off, Im being denied my civil rights.”
Not unless you are 100% certified mudslam. A white guy, or gramma goes to jail. Don’cha just LOVE this racial profiling stuff?
Every year on the anniversary, I watch the 911 doc that was aired on CBS. It’s hard.
The TSA is going to go with the smell test!!!!
OMG ... how sick!
Nope .. we’ll just have to be very alert,
and leave the flight if a suspicious
group of rug carrying bearded Middle
Easterners gather and get on the plane.
And carry shoelaces in our purses.
And DHS will accept this ?
Dear God ... ACLU .. where are you
when the flying public is put in the
position of suffering discriminating
anxiety and stress when flying?
Shoelaces?
I remember after all the rules of what
you couldn’t carry on the plane, some
security expert said to have a pair
of shoelaces or a belt ... in case you
were in a position to strangle a terrorist.
The things that stick in our minds .. yerk.
LOL! I had forgotten that!
Even if I HAD a shoelace, finding it in my purse would be
almost impossible! :D
ROFL!
Wear your sneakers ... there’s your laces.
Oh, yeah!
I usually wear “mules”...easier to get off and on in the
security line! LOL!
Mules with laces? Hmmmm.......

Another hack judge legislating from the bench. Maybe she should visit a “tolerant” Muslim country and see how she is treated for being a woman.
CAIR is a covert terrorist organization.
Actually, I’m not sure that is fair. I don’t think they are very covert.
JIHAD PAYZ YOU KUFAR.
See .. I’m much more cautious (paranoid) than you.
Fire = mules = NO, for several critical reasons
Sneaks = traction, socks, no exposed skin = more protection
And I always wear slow burning cotton, not synthetics and
never pantyhose/nylons
And I’m the one who’s aghast when I see some gals
traveling in stillettos and mini skirts.
Told ya .. I am cautious when flying .... LOL
