CAIR Calls Settlement of Six Imams 'Flying While Muslim' Case Victory for Justice Posted 10/20/2009 4:11:00 PM
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/20/09) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today hailed what it called a victory for justice and civil rights in the case of the six imams, or Islamic religious leaders, who said their rights were violated in 2006 when they were removed from a US Airways flight in Minnesota and arrested.
CAIR, the Washington-based civil rights organization that has championed the imams rights since they were removed from the plane, said the six religious leaders will receive an undisclosed amount in compensation for the incident and that the case was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

For background on the case, see: Flying While Muslim
The settlement of this case is a clear victory for justice and civil rights over fear and the phenomenon of 'flying while Muslim in the post-9/11 era, said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. We thank all those who supported the imams through the lengthy and difficult legal process.
In July, a judge in Minnesota sided with the imams on key issues in their lawsuit against those involved in their removal from the plane. U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery cleared the way for a trial by denying several motions to dismiss the case and ruling that a law passed by Congress after the incident does not grant protection from lawsuits to those sued by the imams.

Judge Montgomery also ruled that the actions of the imams prior to their flight did not justify their detention. She noted that the imams were subjected to "extreme fear and humiliation of being falsely identified as dangerous terrorists."

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
Bit by bit until it all falls down.
Cair wins, USA loses.
Please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump. If you haven’t donated yet, please give it some thought.
Thank you!
We can see the beginning and the end. I would really like to know what the settlement is?
Free flying with privileges of scaring passengers for life?
Agreed. It will be unfortunate if CAIR ends its boycott. After the Mohammedans began their boycott, I was happy to pay the extra $$$ for US Aiways’ airfare as I knew the airline was terrorist-free. Sigh.
A can see them and their followers chanting “Allah Ahkbar” and getting on their knees and praying and mumbling at all the airports across the US, and the industry can’t say or do jack about it. We are toast.
“CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization.”
CAIR is a covert terrorist organization.
There, fixed it.
If all Muslims were banned from domestic flights we wouldn’t have to woory about such lawsuits.
Everything I read about this leads me to believe it was a setup job from the start. They have now arranged things so that the airlines will be unable to take appropriate measures in potentially threatening situations. That will make it that much easier for the next 9/11 pukes to carry out their jobs. I guess the lesson learned here is to equivocate. If you see or hear something odd, report it as something else. Anything to stop the process. WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE IN MY COUNTRY?
I won’t be flying.
worry.
Sometimes i loose my train of thought....
Mod.
Thanks for fixing the title. :)
agree
we certainly are handicapped in screening even more
i’d say you fixed it. they are an un-indited co-conspirator
**WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE IN MY COUNTRY?**
They are here to DESTROY US... the MURDEROUS TERRORIST CULT OF ISLAM with it’s Terrorist FRONT GROUP, CAIR, are ANTI AMERICAN SCUM, and they should be removed or executed... doesn’t matter to me, which!
“One of the (terrorists) told the Associated Press that the settlement does not include an apology but he considers it an acknowledgment that a mistake was made. He said he couldn’t divulge the terms because both sides had agreed not to discuss them publicly. “It’s fine for all parties. It’s been solved. ... There is no need for a trial,” Sadeddin said.
According to the statement by the MAC, “the commission’s liability insurance policy limits potential financial exposure in such cases to $50,000. The insurer has the right to assume control of the defense or settlement of claims and exercised that right in this case.”
They were non-dangerous terrorists?
Wait till the TSA starts screening for the ButtBomber scenario.
Will we bend over, or will we finally give muuuuHAMhead (Pigs be inseminating him) the boot?
