OK, I’m guessing that means to load up to 5 shells in the magazine and leave it at that. Then, in an emergency, a single pump and I’m ready.
IOW, don’t load a shell in the top chamber.
As I think it through, I realize I still have a long way to go. Thinking about shooting and killing another person is a high hurdle. Faced with life or death, I am confident I’ll choose the other guy’s death. It’s just thinking about it in advance, when I’m not faced with the choice, that’s the hurdle I need to leap.
Too philosophical, I know.
Nobody wants that choice and the odds are it doesn’t happen. If the door in my home or a window breaks it is chambered quickly and I’m low. The thought of sympathy to anyone doing that to me I leave to God. My mind is made up.
Find out the laws in your area and reflect upon yourself and your situation. If there is an uninvited stranger in my house they are going down. And if they are an invited stranger they better be awful carefull! (Heck, my kids are instructed to be wary around our adult friends and neighbors.)
Please, don’t “guess” with your new gun. Seriously, get some range time in so you’ll know what to do and what to expect when you pull the trigger, especially from a 12-gauge.
