Say you're sorry, Rush - or the the Rev. Al Sharpton is suing.
The civil rights activist, angered by a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece written by Rush Limbaugh, threatened a defamation lawsuit Saturday against the conversative talk radio host.
"Unless Mr. Limbaugh apologizes and clarifies his statements, attorneys for Rev. Sharpton will move forward with a lawsuit," said a statement from Sharpton. Limbaugh lashed out at Sharpton over his failed attempt to purchase a piece of the St. Louis Rams.
Sharpton "played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews 'diamond merchants') and 1995 Freddie's Fashion Mart riot," Limbaugh wrote.
The hard-line conservative also mentioned Sharpton's accusations in the Tawana Brawley case, and the reverend's "blind hatred" - although Sharpton took no issue with those remarks.
Limbaugh "has the right to criticize Rev. Sharpton, but he does not have the right to accuse him of criminal activity," the Sharpton statement said.
Sharpton pointed out that he was never in Crown Heights until after the violence that broke out following a traffic accident that killed a young black boy.
And the reverend said the killer in the Freddie's Fashion Mart shootings and fire was a Sharpton critic.
The gunman and seven other people died inside the store on 125th St. in Harlem.
This really can’t end well for Sharpton.
Even if his suit gets thrown out for lack of merit (or whatever the legal term is) Rush’s comments would validated by the court’s silence.
The more I see them operate, the more I’m convinced that these two shysters, Sharpton and the Rev’runnnn Jacksuuunnnnnn, are priests to the god of this world, not the one true Creator.
LOL! Just a matter of time. Al Sharpton, the messiah of all that is stupid.
Agreed, bring it on. Rush will win. And if Rush were to “lose” in his suit against the media who passed on the fake quotes, it’d only due to the need for actual malice; it won’t be because the quotes aren’t fake.
I don’t he has quite figured that out yet.
Wonder if Al has repeated any of the false quotes attributed to Limbaugh?
Maybe odumbo will have another press staged beer conference
It is racists like Sharpton that may very well bring back the n word
The “N” word never left, you ask any black. While your at it ask for an explanation. I doubt that blacks have a much different explanation than the white man, except for the double meaning. There are “Americans” and then there is what is left, red, black, purple, yellow, brown, black, blue, or white, it doesn’t matter, the “N” word could apply.
Sharpton only speaks out and sues when it is politically rightious for him. What an ass. We should all sue Sharpton for defaming and wasting our time.
I don’t buy this. Obama and Co are trying to take the heat and light off themselves by using Al Sharpton as the fall guy.
If anyone should be subject to civil liability, Rev. Al... you best be careful ..
That piece of crap sharpton isn’t suing anybody.
Can you imagine all the stuff that would come out about sharpton and the Justice Brothers?
Just the Tawana Brawley hoax alone would take his reputation down on the scale, from -5,000,000 to -6,000,000.
Not that Al doesn’t deserve it. sarc/
Rush has the money to play the legal game with Al and drive him in to bankruptcy. Time for Rush to file some counter-suits against this buffoon.
If the trial in in NY, Rush may well lose.
You’re not a criminal, Al, just a liar.
Agreed. He’s going up against a power house in more ways than one.
