Conservatives have been a little concerned behind the scenes about 2012. There are many stars on the right wanting to run, but many of them were going to be overshadowed by Newt Gingrich.
He has, deservedly or not, taken the mantle of conservative thinker and run with it. Today though, Gingrich decided to give up the mantle of conservative thinker and pick up the mantle of political opportunist.
Those of us who already had a sick feeling as we thought about his personal baggage being trotted out by the left no longer have to worry.
Today Newt Gingrich endorses Dede Scozzafava in NY-23. This follows his 2008 endorsement of very liberal Wayne Gilchrest in MD-01, who went on to lose his Republican Primary and then endorsed the Democrat in the race.
Make no mistake about it: Gingrich no longer wants to nor can he be seen as a conservative. He is a political opportunist. But, as Bill Kristol notes this morning, “The GOP establishment complicates the Republican and conservative comeback strategy.” Newt Gingrich wants to be part of that complication.
Now, some might rightly say that perhaps Gingrich did not know. He sees the GOP leadership lining up behind Dede and he felt obligated. That could not be further from the truth.
In fact, for the past several weeks there has been an aggressive effort among conservatives to keep Newt on the sidelines. He, instead, decided to pee on the movement.
Newt endorsing Scozzafava aligns him with Markos Moulitsas who declared Dede the most liberal candidate in the race.
That aligns Newt with ACORN, which has twice endorsed Dede.
That aligns Newt with Planned Parenthood and NARAL, active supporters of Dede.
That aligns Newt with the SEIU, the AFL-CIO, and other left wing interest groups including the gay marriage lobby...

Which follows his 2008 endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
Face it. Newt is way past his effective date.

Gingrich endorses a leftist, he is over the shark
Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.
This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” democRat.
There are also 17 RINOs in the house who have donated funds to this Liberal democRat's campaign. They include Boehner and Cantor. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These RINOs should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

Good. I enjoy watching him on Fox News. His analysis is often inciteful and brilliant. Then when he teams up with the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Al Sharpton I just want to vomit. There must be something in the fetid air in the swamp called Washington which causes this weird behavior.
Is it possible that Michael Savage is correct in connecting drug use and politicians?
When Savage isn’t talking about himself or making strange noises he is usually correct.

I was hoping he declared himself out of the race. I wish he would.

Mr. Gingrich, the former House speaker, has been working alongside the former first lady on a number of issues, and even appeared with her at a press conference on Wednesday to promote - of all things - health-care legislation.
But more puzzling than that, Mr. Gingrich has been talking up Mrs. Clinton's presidential prospects in 2008, to the chagrin of conservative loyalists who once regarded him as a heroic figure. Last month, he even suggested she might capture the presidency, saying “any Republican who thinks she's going to be easy to beat has a total amnesia about the history of the Clintons.”

Truer words were never spoken. I lost all respect for Newt when he sat down on the couch with Pelosi on the global warming BS. Good riddance Newt.
Newt took himself out of the running when he quit as Speaker and then quit as GA Rep and then dumped his wife to marry a Congressional Staffer. All this in the middle of the Clinton blue dress scandal while losing R seats in an election where the Rs should have gained seats.
Newt is so over.
