Judge Land’s hard on Orly Taitz, Esq. It’ll cost her $20,000
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 10/13/2009 | Jay Bookman

Posted on 10/13/2009 10:39:05 AM PDT by GoldStandard

U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land, in Columbus, has come down hard on birther attorney Orly Taitz, fining her $20,000 for willfully abusing her right to practice law. I suspect Taitz won’t have that right much longer.

“The Court finds that counsel’s conduct was willful and not merely negligent. It demonstrates bad faith on her part. As an attorney, she is deemed to have known better. She owed a duty to follow the rules and to respect the Court. Counsel’s pattern of conduct conclusively establishes that she did not mistakenly violate a provision of law. She knowingly violated Rule 11. Her response to the Court’s show cause order is breathtaking in its arrogance and borders on delusional.”

Since she didn't go to a real law school, she could argue that she's not a real lawyer and, therefore, not subject to the rules governing the conduct of lawyers.

Please let us all know in what year did you pass the California Bar Exam, one of the most difficult in the country?

"If a Judge states such statements as that HE should be removed."

What statements are you talking about?

If a Judge states such statements as that HE should be removed. For Cripes sake, where is the REAL decorum. A LIEberal for sure.

Actually, Judge Land is a Republican who served in the State Senate for 5 years and in the assembly before that. He was appointed by President George H. W. Bush.

Neither of those facts makes a differnce to me. GWB who I supported for years was in fact not doing good and it sems that the title “Republican” makes no differnce now. Look at Pansy Graham. I once thought he was a good man. I now see that he is completely opposite of what I thought he was. HE, was the ONLY Republican to vote Sotomayor out of Committe thereby assuring that she would be seated. I have absolutely NO use for the man whatsoever anymore. Time fore SC to retire him. America needs TRUE conservatives, Not just Republicans. They don’t, in any way, have their $h*t together. It’s a loser every single time. The Democraps stick together like glue and the GOP are all over the place. None can be COUNTED on. The reason?? They aren’t Conservatives!! CO

So what? What is your point?

Lindsey Graham is a "Republican" from South Carolina, Olympia Snowe is a "Republican" from Maine. Need I name more?

And who appointed O'Connor and Souter?

Oh something like “ when a Lawyer uses her position to make a POLITICAL statement”. This is bullcrap. I am married to Lawyer and have worked in the field for 23 years. That is very unprofessional since he does not know her political bent. She is simply representing a United States Military Man. He’s a flake imo. I don’t care if he was a so called Republican. So is Olympia Snowe. By name only are they Republicans. In fact, Republican no longer means Conservative, ie: McCain, Snowe, Collins, Luger, etc. etc. etc. There is something that STINKS to high heaven here and the question needs to be answered WHY?? co

LOL! You know that they don't want to understand these things. Silly parsy.

WHAT statement?

"So sparky try research before you make a statement and prove your incorrect."

Well sparky, you haven't proven me incorrect yet. You'd have to produce whatever statement it is you're talking about first.

A "political statement" doesn't have to relate to political party. She goes on diatribes in her filings. Have you read them?

You’re the one acting foolish. You jump all over me for nothing, then tell me I’m supposed to look up whatever it was you thought I was wrong about, even though you have yet to tell me what it is? That’s just bizarre. Also exceedingly rude.

Do you think that all who are following this case, who don’t speak out against orly, but are interested in truth, support her? Every time I saw an error made, or revealed I cringed, and asked questions about her background, who’s helping her, asked if she had paralegals, atty’s helping her etc.. The bottom line question for me remains...vet the background, get it out in the open, utilize the sec of states—get the proof from them, and stop spending millions of dollars of our money on obama’s defense.

I am puzzled.
She has legitimate claims, questions, and evidence.
She wants the court to investigate and decide if Obama is Constitutionally qualified to be President.
Rather than focus on the fact, that he is hiding from disclosing his birth certificate, in fact, all of his documents that would exonerate him.
Yet, you openly chastise the only person working towards those ends.
In effect, your attempting to kill the messenger,
while the Message has little interest to you.
How Sad.
How sad that your only interested in attacking this woman, and not so interested is asking Obama exactly why he won’t show proof that he is Qualified to Be the President of the United States.

Pathetic really....

There is NOT one single “birther movement.” The judge is washed up about that.

“What’s really unfortunate is that Taitz has tainted any legitimate case that may have been made. Anybody who tries to take up the cause now will be laughed out of town.”

That’s my take as well, exactly. And also why I thought the pursuit of this issue had at most a 5% chance of success...*particularly* by the time she had jumped into the fray...which was late; by that time maybe 3 other cases had been brought..? This IMO is why Levin has shut down any callers who bring this up on his show immediately; and has done so for many months before Taiz had brought her suit.

I’m about 60% convinced that she was financed and possibly even fed pieces of spurious information by the DNC or other Dem interests; precisely because they could foresee that she would discredit herself and her case, crash and burn, and leave a smoking crater that the next BC challeneger would think that much longer and harder about.

Thank you for your courteous and fully explanatory reply. I had no idea until I saw the story just yesterday that Taitz's legal efforts were so wide of the mark. It makes you wonder why she didn't hire an attorney herself. If it was because she hasn't any money, then that goes to the general unavailablility of redress for the insufficiently resourced (so to buzz).

Obama's situation stinks of fraud and cabali, and of an embryonic Politburo at work. This is the price we pay for letting people like Karl Rove, Ken Mehlman, and Denny Hastert run the GOP from 2002 to 2006. It seems as if, once Dubya was reelected with a congressional majority, everybody just mailed it in while they worked on their resumes.

[Aside] I know Dubya was distracted with two wars and the 'Ratmedia, but couldn't he have assigned at least one adult to help keep 'Rats like Rahm Emanuel away from the baby?

You hit the nail on the head here. A good lawyer is at least four moves ahead of the chess game, but Ms. Taitz seems to have always been about two moves behind.

You're joking, right?

California has such a high failure rate because it doesn't require students to attend an accredited law school. Orly Taitz' law degree is from a correspondence school.
