When is the last time anybody has heard of an AC-130H Spectre gunship being used in Afghanistan?
Far be it from me to be an armchair general, but there no such thing as rough or remote terrain for an AC-130.

Back when the Afgan war was going better, I got the impression that it was mainly Special Forces troops designating targets for Predators, who would just drop smart bombs on Taliban concentrations.

If the village elders thought the response would be a few JDAMs dropped on their village, perhaps they would be less supportive of the Taliban.
